Here I was at a sunday matinee for my weekly movie experience, watching this week new release "The Sentinel". It was about a mole in the US secret service. Part of the mystery was would is behind the mole, in one scene, one of the character is accused of being the mole in the pay of the "baranquilla cartel"...

I thought, WTF? these days we got crazy N. Korean w/ Nukes, Islamic Terrorist, disgruntle democrats, Chavez, etc., as potential villians. Why choose COL? a country that most US citizen can't even place and really don't see as threat. Also, if you have to choose a col cartel? Why not the Medellin or cali cartel? Most US people never heard of BAQ. Maybe in a next movie, it'll be the Pereria Cartel.. LOL!

Also, the week before I saw "Thank you for smoking", a great and funny movie. However, in one scene the main character laments that working as a Tobbacco Lobbyist is view by the public as a "colombian drug dealer".

the north coast of colombia is a place really nice,but there is a sub-culture running death and life.i was born there 25 years agoi know what im talkin about.

this is barranquilla's local newspaper everyday somebody is killed by pistoleros.they deal with heroin,cocaine and marihuana. a lot of money huh,

The stereotype would have you believe that the Colombian would just as soon shoot you as look at you while the Canadian would say, "Pardon Me, eh, would you like a doobie?" How scary is that?

Since Hollywood is all about fear and stereotypes, the Candiand Pot Smugglers can continue to move their weed while the Colombians take all the heat.
