Can anyone give me some information of a city or town to head to either next weekend or the weekend after since they are long weekends? I'm in Bogota and will probably have to take a bus there and I know about Melgar (which I assume will be extremely crowded) but what are some other places that have the same weather as Melgar (and hence, NOT the same crappy weather as here in Bogota) but aren't too far away? Perhaps somewhere where there are reasonably priced hotels with swimming pools??? Any advice is much appreciated!

cdunn77 says on Oct 29, 2005, 16:25: Thanks everyone! I'm not necessarily looking for a lot of things to do in the town/city, but more just to relax by the poolside and add some colour to my depleting tan! Do any of you have any suggestions as to where to stay in the places that you mentioned? Costs?

litost says on Oct 29, 2005, 17:06: Yes it gets quite busy, and not exactly pool weather. but a great town to go visit and relax nonetheless. It takes a little over 2 hours, you catch the bus at the Portal Norte (in front of the Exito at calle 170 con autopista). When I went we had to take a bus that left us in Tunja and from there we got a smaller bus to VdL.
