This year has really been a "annus horribilus" for yours truly.
Consider this:
Found out that my hands don't like the "softener" in rubbergloves for cleaning
aka changed skin once a month (February/March). OK then "window" for
traveling kind of closed as it's a hell of a lot more fun to actually enjoy
the north when the weather is acceptable here ;-)
The hands thing is a pain in the B............. as you can imagine that the
natural "cracks/lines" one has in your hands takes forever (about 14 days a
time) to heal per time this happend. I don't even wanna go into the nice 36
hour day-rythm you kind of fall into because you're awake until you
physically get hit by the bed and not the other way around ;-)
If that wasn't enough for yours truly I was lucky to break my Achilles tendon
5 weeks ago .... not a big thing didn't hurt as it happen afterwords your
foot just hangs down and you only thought is to grab the mobile and call
someone that is actually near by to get them to drive you to the emergency
dep. at the hospital.
First thing you do is implement the RICE concept.
Rest
Ice (keep that ice on with a towell between your skin )
Compression Kind of obsolete if the Achilles is broken
Elevation

So that's basicly what I "demanded/said very determinant" when arriving at the
emergency at the hospital 20 min after that tiny incident (21.30 that day).
Wupti next day home at right after dinner at hospital. Remember to get some
painkillers before you leave the hospital. I kind of forgot as I was eager to
get the hell out of there at the speed of sticks. It's allowed to have the
feet on the table (he he ...). For those with kids ... just imagine that one ;-)
Had a nice "fixed"-frame for the first 14 days ... aka ... don't use that
foot ... thank you !!! And don't trip that hurts like heeeeeeeeeeeell
Checkup after 14 days where I got the latest in summer shoe fashion (check gallery)
You gradually grow of that boot (at least at home) over the weeks, and now on
5½ weeks you walk like a duck as your Achilles is very tight.
OK next challenge will be my 41'st birthday with that boot on the 14'th
GREAT ....
Think this will truly go over as a "drinking & chips" birthday (had a wild one
last year as you can imagine).
Next periodical check the 22'nd of june ....(good bye moon-boot and sticks).
Now the real funny part about this. Getting a tendon back in shape is actually
worse than after a broken leg or muscle. NO sports with rapid change of
direction or exhausting exercise for a year. Knowing myself kind of well
that's gonna be great. I'm the kind that enjoys to get out there when I'm on a holiday.
This must be the most complete and successfull way of stay away from
traveling/going to Colombia 101 that exists.
OK enough about me ...............
How about you people in here ?????????????
PS:
VERY prudent advice.
DO NEVER EVER START REMODELLING YOU LIVINGROOM/KITCHEN BEFORE YOU BREAK YOUR
ACHILLES TENDON. Living with boxes all over the place for 5 weeks now. It's
clean and all that but the sight ..... well imagine your worst move and the
disorder/mess surrounding it and you're there ;-)
OK I've caused enough laughter for you guys now so here I'll
throw the pen/electron back to you guys

I could not laugh at you only grimace at the thought of the pain you were in..
