Hola amigo nuevos!

This site is fantastic! I was considering making plans to visit a friend in Colombia, but I got nervous when I read the travel advisories. Your site has given me that glimmer of hope I need to sustain that dream. Thanks for providing a forum where I can get a more balanced view and "know before I go". As I am still in the research phase, can anyone recommend a city to fly out of in the US that would be a cheaper flight (less than $700) and less than a 5 hr flight? I am looking to go to Cartagena. Thanks again!

HAHA! I am in NYC. From NYC to Bogota was at least $700. I didn't even check Cartegena yet. Probably just as expensive. I was thinking maybe if I flew into CA or TX it would be cheaper & then the flight wouldn't be so long as I would take a short break in between. Thanks for being so helpful!
