Carrera 92 # 42 Sur is near the neighbourhood "Patio Bonito" in Bogotá. It's with "Sur" (South) added and as long as I'm adding... "Patio Bonito" itself is not particularly a neighbourhood one should be.

I do stand by my quote, as quoted by adrimm, buuuuut I must admit I stayed there for about 3 days just last month and it wasn't really that bad. Walked around by my pasty gringo self and even got lost (but not on the transmilenio thanks to the extra-thorough tour adrimm!). The TM stop however can also be the library stop.

Hope you're staying on a paved street because if not, it can be dusty. And don't buy open air food on the unpaved street either, might be a bit gritty.

There will always be someone who'll say he/she stayed at place X or Y and nothing happened... Let's just say that a general rule it's not the nicest part of town. Although the main street is ok, it's way more problematic if you go into the actual neighbourhood (being "Patio Bonito" in this case).
You're safer taking one of those bicitaxis then wandering around alone on a Sunday when the streets are more deserted. We used those to go to San Andresito on a Sunday from AC13.

thur, I'd of course not suggest a newbie stay there, buuuuuuut I also know that a lot of people who criticize these places never even stayed there and let looks decieve them. Ever spend any time there? And yes I did stay deeper into Patio Bonito than where the Transmilenio stop is. My sister-in-law and her family have lived there for years and all is well.

Bicitaxi screams "tourist" ipso facto "victim", and I don't think walking around when it is deserted is such a good idea. But you did sum it all up perfectly:

If you had been to Av de las Américas, there used to be a Glorieta with a monument, well it is still there, going west,when that road ends the road meets Av Ciudad de Cali, from that point south you pass thru Patio Bonito, Kenedy, Autopista Villavicencio, etc.

because patio bonito is more in La Avenidad ciudad de Cali, the other one (Villavicencio) cross that one but later not in Patio Bonito

And to go to Villavicencio specially if youre coming from the north, you take the whole Avenidad Boyaca then meet with the avenidad Vilavicencio hasta el portal del tunal

But saying that on the way out from Bogota/Villavicencio you will see worst areas than Patio Bonito
