Hipodromo Los Comuneros (Guarne, Antioquia)

Looks like there is horse racing in Colombia! This is great news since horse racing is my favorite form of gambling. Any PBHers ever been to this track near Guarne? Anyone have any good stories about playing the ponies, Colombian style?

Not sure of your methodlogy, skill level, your seriousness and how much you use available data & statistics but assuming you are used to at minimum studying the DRF before you go to bet, It´s brutal to play out in Guarne as there´s almost no data. I´d go just for fun and play some flyers. There is a place in Belén on the calle 30a that takes bets on US Tracks but theres a commission on top of the host track takeout and breakage making it almost impossible to win. My suggestion is play the tracks you are acustomed to online as most online betting sites give rebates to cushion the takeout and breakage blow. I´m a born & bred NYRA player and I miss going to the spa in the summer.

yep...i know the track. have friends who race horses there. been there, done that. never bet on anything, just went with rich friends. story is that they 'toot' the horses...makes them run like hell. what can you say? it's colombia. i lived a couple of miles from the track for a couple of years. back towards the airport. guarne is sort of nothing...minus nothing...with all due respect to the inhabitants. it's the gateway to farc land.

I'm a pretty experienced horseplayer. Not very good at pedigree handicapping for the juvy races (yet) but as for class, speed and pace handicapping I rigorously study the DRF for any card I'm planning on seriously betting. I don't mind going out to a track just to have fun every once in a while but I prefer heavy duty "investing" and that requires lots of data.

There is currently a Colombian bred thoroughbred racing here in the states. Buen Mozo is his name. He raced once at Santa Anita back in the spring (went off at something like 70-1 I think and beaten as badly as his odds would imply). I put him on my stable mail just for kicks. He's still working out there at SA.

What do they "toot" the horses with at Los Comuneros? And how bad is that area really with regards to FARC presence?

in and around the track, there's no problems with farc, as all the 'haves' farc and non farc love to go to the races and bet and show off and 'look good' so as far as that kind of problem, you have to go a whole lot further east to worry.

with 'toot'. colombia's national treasure.
