For a somewhat urabn "hiking" experience you could walk up Monseratte on the weekend. I've read online that there are some rambling and hiking groups (at least one) in Bogota.. I'll try and do some googling in Spanish for it later today.

I've heard that the Parque Nacional Chingaza is spectactular, but the same Colombians who told me that said it's still not safe for my gringo boots because of occassional FARC presence and, apparently, heroin poppy cultivation.

While in Bogotá just go to La Gran Pared, (Carrea 7 No. 50-02 (571) 285 0903 - (571) 481 0531) there you would learn about the safe places to go. I went to El Nevado del Cocuy, but that is in Boyaca about 10 hours by car. A nice walking is in Cerros Orientales going up about Avenida circunvalar and 75 Strees, by Club El Metropolitano.

There are many walking clubs, Sal Si Puedes, Clorofila Urbana, etc. Also in the two restaurants bar of Caffe and Creppes you will find more outdoors activities.
