High School on Tourist Visa

If a person has one year left of high school in Colombia and then moves to the U.S. on a tourist visa, can he/she attend an American high school for the last half year and get their diploma? If it's not legal, how can he/she do it not legitimately?

I've read about college requirements but haven't seen anything regarding high schools.

Thank you in advance.
