robi..check your information, please, the national La Modelo prison is a prison in Bogota, there have been numerous documentaries about it, in fact the irish Colombia Three were housed there....all in Bogota....there is also a La Modelo in Bucaramanga, but i was unaware of one in BAQ...........try a google search of it and you will see the links.....

i will do that, but did you find the national La Modelo in BOG? i recorded a documentary by the BBC which is very enlightening.... i visited the prison featured by the documentary as well as a military hospital in Bogota as well.....quite depressing....but i will look at the one you have visited...but do they house FARC and Paras in BAQ, dividing the prison in half, like in Bogota, or is it for common criminals?

From reading the links from the search you suggested, it looks.. like "La Modelo" refers to the one in Bogota, whereas they use "carcel de Modelo en Barranquilla" which was used in 4-5 of the search result articles...my Colombian spanish is not that precise, so maybe Modelo refers to a system of prisons? as there also is one situated in Bucaramanga as well....
