Hi FRIENDS. ARMacleod, (AKA JVH) Home again.

Hi! Everyone, it is good to be back on form. I have missed you all over the last three months but I needed the time to clear my head. I have noticed a few old friends absent now, I hope they will also return eventually.

I have now finally retired from work and in retrospect I cannot think how I managed to get everything done before, working certainly gets in the way of social activity. I am now planning another trip to Colombia but I think it will be in the spring next year.

G5 and I had a couple of ‘E' conversations and to cut a long story short, as a result of what he said, for which I am eternally grateful, I decided to stop feeling sorry for myself and get myself back into the real world. My love affaire with my lady (AVH) is over, mostly, but not my love affaire with Colombia.

You know something? When G5 makes a statement, you ought to read it carefully, there is much wisdom and genuine feeling there. I am not saying that I am in 100% agreement with everything stated, but I wish that I had the knowledge of Colombia and things Colombian (and life in general) that he does. To you Marcos, my heartfelt thanks again and I will always be in your debt.

Me? JVH was my ‘pen name' A R Macleod is my correct name. The V H was the family name of my Latino lady, have not fully got over that bit yet but life must go on.

Other than creatures like Kerry etc, I do wish that the site members would select their words more carefully before replying in haste to something read; Remember the section is named ‘Friendly Talkzone', I am sure no one posts initially to make enemies, or to have out of control verbal sparring matches. (Other than that little ‘ticita' Kerry) Remember the poem :
‘The moving finger writes and having writ moves on
Etc
Etc
‘Nor all thy tears erase a single line'

(I would be grateful for the remainder of that poem if anyone knows the author, or better still the words)

Basically; a word said can never be unsaid, a blow is easily forgotten.

Anyway, enough of the nagging, there are many wonderful things to write about Colombia that are worthy of airing that will not raise the hackles.

I have a question for you my friends that I would be grateful for some advice upon. My return to Bogota would be, for me, an emotional mistake, I am therefore looking for somewhere similar (in Colombia of course), i.e. Above the mosquito level, low humidity, easy going temperature all year round, not rural, and obviously reasonably free of Colombian uniformed malcontents. Is there such a place?

On an short internal flight from Bogota 18 months ago, I was approached by the stewardess who enquired:

"Coffee or tea sir?"
"Tea please" I replied.
"Sorry sir" she replied, "I only have coffee"

?

I can think of dozens of reasons for the question and the subsequent reply but I would rather not know, moments and things like that, make life so worth living.

Pax vobiscum. James.

Manizales Thanks for the suggestion jessymcken. I have had a look at the information available over the net and it certainly looks promising. I think a short visit to the area is called for soon.

Thanks again

James, A VERY WARM Welcome back...and Thanks !! When I sought you out, and decided that it was time that I attempt to make contact with you, it was really out of concern for your well being. I knew how much effort, emotionally and otherwise, you had put into developing your relationship, only to see it dissolve in the manner that it did, I felt it was vital that I check in on your well being. You are a fine individual, not because you and I were often on the same frequency, but because of your general regard for the value and respect for diversity of thought. Most people on this site do not share that appreciation. In fact, if they had their way, they would all function like some sort of unified automaton.

Also, your kind words regarding me personally are most appreciated.

James, I had put a lot of thought into my last communication with you. I hated to see a man who indeed has had a most impressive career, after having to first pull himself out of the hardships of his youth, struggle with the type of emotional let down that you endured. I was not going to allow any one person to exercise that much influence, and inflict such a degree of sadness to a man who has obviously dedicated his life as a public servant, and as guardian of humanity.

You know James, while I appreciate you giving me some credit for assisting you in your return to PBH and probably the day to day struggle of mainstream life, I am certain that you would have done so eventually, (maybe only a few hours later) on your own without any words set forth by myself. It is just part of your “composition” to recognize the need to move forward in your life, and recognize that no person or event could be allowed to act as a weight that obstructs the progression of a fulfilling lifetime.

Given the overall tenor among many in this forum, I am certain that few here will either appreciate, or be moved by your words of thanks that you sent my way. Unless it is a subject rather benign in nature, there is little tolerance for a type of thinking that is not in accord with their own.

But you are here. And that said, the diversity of thought, as small as it may be here, has been that much more expanded on this forum once again. But more importantly, your charm and artistic expression will once again be "heard" enabling others to be accordingly, so enlightened.

My best,

G5

Damn I thought Kerry was responsible for ARM's return. I was going to compliment Kerry's fine work, instead I shall say, good job G5.

Gomezman5 says on Sep 13, 2005, 17:57:

Thanks Kernow. Insulting me is one thing, but do you have to insult ARM at the same time? In fact, if I may refer you back to ARM's opeining post, ARM referred to Kerry as a "creature". That statement is indicative of the fact that Kerry, the creature had little to do with ARM's return.

At the same time however, it should be noted that Kerry was a major factor in Bush's reelection.

Couldn't agree more C4C, JVH/ARM's postings are very easy on the eye.

Am I the only one who doesn't detect an insult in Kernow's last post, except for the obvious insult of using the words "fine work" and "kerry" in the same sentance?

Gomezman5 says on Sep 14, 2005, 14:02:

BJB Of course you did not notice anything insulting in Kernow's post. It is also true that you probably did not notice anything complimentary to me (G5) in ARM's post.

While I have been a member... ...of this site for some time, I have been unable to determine the source of the anomosity between G5 and other members. It does seem as if he has a way of waving a red flag that enrages other members.

Of course I try to stay out of controversal posts.

*Of course you did not notice anything insulting in Kernow's post*

Very true, because there was nothing insulting in his post to notice.

Lighten up fella, you'll enjoy it.

kernow62 says on Sep 14, 2005, 14:58:

Very true BJB, I simply assumed that JVH had come to do a bit of verbal sparring with Kerry. I don't mind that G5 took things the wrong way, he usually does, it has become his trademark. If he ever changed I might think it was an imposter. ja ja Don't change G5, you are the funniest thing on PBH.

If he cannot take a compliment that's his problem. And if JVH was offended (I really doubt that) then he can tell me so; I didn't think he needed G5 talking for him.

Gomezman5 says on Sep 14, 2005, 15:53:

Aztec...in law school A prof. once called me "A lightning rod of controversy". I took that as a compliment. Controversy brings out the best in people. It makes them think that much more. It causes them to rise to the occasion and excel where they would otherwise be reticent.

Aztec, what you have to understand is that when I prevail in a given line of reasoning, there are those that feel that personal attacks and illogical pontifications are the only recourse they have to save face. They even start picking on my spelling. Look Aztec, I'll write one of my extended threads, setting forth each detail with utmost
precision, and what do they do? I'll get them writing some non responsive attack, along with a remark about how I misspelled one word out of the 789 words that I wrote. Go figure.

As to Kernow, maybe it's just some sort of envy. He himself can't explain it. He just comes back again and again. If I post in one thread, he seeks me out and comes up with a post even if he was not intrested in the subject. He thinks....."uh hah, G5 is there, what can I do to to start controversy today?" It's just a mind set that he has. Look, if I were him, I would be spending time trying to make my Colombian wife that much more content. But Kernow says to himself, forget about my wife, let's go aggravate G5.

That's ok, I don't mind. In fact, it's ammusing....at times.

Strikes me that you are the one doing the insulting, which kind of fly's in the face of JVH's words "I do wish that the site members would select their words more carefully before replying in haste to something read; Remember the section is named ‘Friendly Talkzone', I am sure no one posts initially to make enemies, or to have out of control verbal sparring matches."

Just something I noticed (G5)

BTW It was perfectly clear, even to a blind man and his dog, that Kernow was actually paying you a compliment.

Yes, I am....in fact, that reminds me When they are not attacking my spelling, they tell me how lousy an attorney I am. I love it. What a bunch here huh?

Anyway, where does your son practice and in what areas does he practice?

Wording I would be grateful for the remainder of that poem if anyone knows the author, or better still the words

The Moving Finger writes; and, having writ,
Moves on: nor all your Piety nor Wit
Shall lure it back to cancel half a Line,
Nor all your Tears wash out a Word of it.

the rubaiyat - omar khayyam - 11th century

Good advise, especially PM’s, emails and love letters you will surely regret writing. Another line comes to mind.

So live that when thy summons comes...

"When you men get home and face an anti-war protester, look him in the eyes and shake his hand. Then, wink at his girlfriend, because she knows she's dating a pussy." Quote - General Tommy Franks

Thank you poco I learned the poem at school, That was 50 years ago, it has been lost in my mind for so long and regrettably its space taken over by other nonsense (Like memorising the names of all of the classic malt whisky brands)

The words however remain a good reminder to me to engage brain before operating the mouth.

It matters not, the outcome of any action, as long as the intention was honourable. (ARM 1980 ish)

Thanks again.
