traveling to colombia.. is it expensive?

Im traveling to colombia very soon for three weeks, I wanted to know how much do i need for a three week stay, including food, transportation, etc. Well not including stay, i have a friend that im staying with.

It all depends what you want to do. If you're staying with a friend, perhaps 10, 20$/day? It all depends.

in a nutshell....how do you like living? where will you be staying, what are your habits. like peter said, you can do it on $20 a day and you can easily do it on $500. a day. depends on you and your desires/habits/choices.

Recently, there was a very helpful post on this matter entitled "How much money is enough to travel in Colombia..." It is in the Friendly Talk section. I'm going to MDE in Dec., staying with friends. They tell me $100 US per day is more than enough to enjoy life !!!! If you have friends like mine, they will save you on food and housing costs in significant ways. Good luck.

Yes, it seems to be getting more expensive as the dollar is falling again. In Cartagena tourism is down by 50 % compared to last year!! However, Cartagena is the most expensive city in Colombia by far but so enchanting.....it appears that the red hot real estate market is coming to a quick halt as sales are also way off from six months ago.
