panthdave says on Jun 30, 2007, 17:21: FARC though are willing to kill woman and children with no problem..instead of going after there real enemies(Government and Military)..Example last bomb in Buenaventura killed a woman and child if I am correct. Don't you say thats similar to the Insurgents in Iraq killing woman and children..Maybe not on that large scale but they still killed an innocent woman and child in Buenaventura last week.. panthdave Miami 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Cerealkiller says on Jul 1, 2007, 02:34: The thing has been all over the news but I dont think londoners are living in fear at all. I went out with a bunch of friends yesterday and central london, as always, was packed. Covent Garden was packed, leicester square was packed, they had the gay parade going on...like nothing ever happened. kat1 (Moderator) says on Jul 1, 2007, 02:54: I hate tubes, subways, tunnels, and lift, i feel claustrophobic in them, i feel like I need air, i don't go on a lift on my own, i get panicked, when I go to villavo from Bogota i get really nervous as soon as we go on the tunnels, i think what would happend if the Farc put a bomb in here, how would i scape the same goes for the subways in London

slguy says on Jul 1, 2007, 04:59: What are the real chances of being involved in a terrorist act? Pretty slim. The media reports theses acts, and rightfully so - but the truth is, you're FAR more likely to get run over by a car. Before you throw me out, make sure I pay my bar tab 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

analyzethis1 says on Jul 1, 2007, 15:31: the first time I ever felt claustrophobic was when I rode the transmilenio. My heart started to race, I began to sweat and I was suffering from SOB (not them bit#% at !) but shortness of breath! Ugh it was terrible! I empathize with you Kat. goin_south says on Jul 1, 2007, 17:07: I was disappointed in Bogota, when I saw what Rubito brags about so much, the Transmilenio. I thought it was going to be comparable to the the El Metro in Medellin. I'm sure it's as efficient, but I thought it would be 'above' the streets, rather than 'between the lines' or lanes. Where do we go from here? 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

kat1 (Moderator) says on Jul 2, 2007, 01:44: Another like or not "they" do or did change our way of live, we became more paranoids, about everything and everybody, many people hate flying after the 9/11 incidents but they don't have another alternative and they have to do it but they are now more tense I have noticed that a lot, look at the airports now, they became impossible, people avoiding places, i know TONS of people that is scare of going to Villavo, or other places that relative are safe.

panthdave says on Jul 2, 2007, 02:11: Kat down almost every two to three weeks back and forth to Medellin..MIA though alittle closer then the UK..I already have my christmas ticket which If I don't go will a have a divorce on my hands. No Fear at all I have just grown a custom to the extra time thru security but you know been getting thru within 15 minutes at MIA. I fly tomorrow morning but have no bags nor carry on but will get in early based on the activity in the UK last few days. I am able to check in online with Copa so no check in desks..and American I can go to Self Service Kiosks because no check in bags never.. Never experienced terrorist activity in Colombia but the worst I have been in was Lima back in the late 80's and early 90's when downtown Lima was a war zone and I was the only Gringo I swear in Lima and Cuzco..or very few..Barricades everywhere and people living in Fear when the next bomb will be going off. My girlfriends family was targets too at that time because her father was a prosecutor for the Fujimori government at that time so that was not fun. panthdave Miami 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

goin_south says on Jul 6, 2007, 21:55: While we didn't ride the Transmilenio in Bogota, we took many taxis about, hither and thither, and...although I believe the people at the hotel told her to 'call' for taxi's... all of the drivers were more than cordial, very friendly, and helpful... accomodating. No problems. Where do we go from here? 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
