Just cancelled my trip to Cancun. It's so dangerous there. All the random killings. This doesn't even go into the kidnapping problem in Mexico City. LOL!!!
Why should Colombia get all the grief? Mexico's been getting a free pass on this for too long. Plus, those bastards recently tried to make Black Americans AND Colombians the butt of their punchlines. Flame on baby.

U.S. Renews Travel Advisory on Mexico
By TRACI CARL, Associated Press Writer
Tue Jul 26,10:05 PM ET
MEXICO CITY - The State Department is renewing a travel advisory warning Americans about violence in Mexico, especially along the U.S. border, the U.S. ambassador said Tuesday.
The advisory is the third this year requested by U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza. In a statement, Garza said more than 100 violent deaths along the border since June and the killings of 18 Nuevo Laredo policemen convinced him the warning was still necessary.
"These disturbing reports make clear that Mexico needs to do much more to bring safety and security to our common border," he said.
The last advisory was issued in April and expires Friday.
Mexico's government responded that it "maintains a constant fight against organized crime and has made a series of efforts to abate violence on the border."
The past two advisories have angered Mexico, which relies heavily on U.S. tourism and bridles at criticism from its powerful northern neighbor.
Growing violence and a battle between Mexico's two main drug gangs have caused a spike in violence along the border, especially in Nuevo Laredo, across from Laredo, Texas.
Mexican officials, including President Vicente Fox, have acknowledged the problem and pledged to work with their U.S. counterparts to combat growing violence.
In Nuevo Laredo, where the police chief was gunned down in June only hours after taking office, Fox sent in additional federal agents and soldiers to restore law and order.
Garza acknowledged Fox's efforts, saying: "The Mexican government is beginning to address concerns about the unacceptable level of violence along our border."
The ambassador also promised the United States would help Mexican law enforcement agencies combat crime.
"I have held talks with officials at the highest levels of the Mexican government to underscore my belief that the prosperity of our two countries depends in no small part on stability and a firm commitment to stop the violence," he said.
The Mexican government said Tuesday night noted the importance of binational cooperation in border security "which falls under the category of shared responsibility."

Colombiche says on Jul 27, 2005, 10:35: I love Mexico But I did get a couple of cocaine related comments from the locals while I was there. I guess they werent' aware that 92% of cocaine enters the US from Mexico. Mexicans control 11 of the 13 drug markets in the US. I got the stats from The Economist. toneloc24 says on Jul 27, 2005, 10:59: Colombiche I really don't have a problem with normal Mexicans. It's those damn 3rd world elitists (yes, I know they exist everywhere) who try to look down their noses at others when their front lawns are dirty and corrupt as shit. Pres. (Coca-Cola) Fox made that comment, trying to belittle blacks, and it was actually supported by some, as if.... "PBH is dead!!!!" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

el mexica says on Apr 9, 2006, 14:43: Poitn Of View From Mexicans Hello, this is my first post here. I am from Mexico. I have heard the nonsense commentaries of some people here. First of all Mexicans DO NOT offend any southamerican, never, for the simply reason we are from the same blood and culture. Here in mexico, people from southamerica are treated very well. There are nearly 1 million people from all latin america living here, including nearly 250 thousand argentinians. And I have never heard of anyone saying bad things about foreigners. The commentaries you have heard recently about "colombianization" of Mexico is simply the fear our country is experiencing of falling into the same violence and corruption Colombia has fell in the past years. We dont want civil wars, guerrillas, etc. We dont want to know that we cant travel trough our territory freely as it happens know in Colombia. We have seen how drug lords have more and more power every year. In 2005 we experience like never before the narcotics violence. More than 1000 people were executed by narcs. And this 2006 the numbers are doubling. So dont take it personal, its just we are experiencing a very ugly situation here. We have made the mistake of choosing a very incompetent president like Vicente Fox that hast let the country slipped trough violence and drugs. And yes, he is famous for opening his big mouth and saying stupid things about anything or anyone. The mexican diplomacy before him, was very respected for never interfering with other countries. Now he has destroyed all this in just 6 years. Hopefully his government is ending and we are going to elect a much more capable individual. In Mexico the press and the public in general dont like his stupid style of conducting the external and internal politics. We dont feel good when he make stupid declarations about the black people, or the chinese, or the cubans, or south americans. We feel ashamed, because we see you as brother countries. But this man ins uncontrollable, he opens his mouth every minute of the day.
