Hotel Nutibara I stayed there one night, but left because the receptionist refused to help me make a phone call.

Left out Casa Kiwi and Palm tree hostal.

These are backpackers aimed at foriegners
cheap accomodation in dorm rooms or private rooms, they can be a bit noisy at times though. so aimed at the younger crowd.

Great places to go if you want somewhere to stay and meet people to party with.

I recommend Casa kiwi, I was there last week and had a good time.
around 17,000 night

Were you staying in a private room at Casa Kiwi? I called to get a couple of private rooms 2 months in advance but they have people that are staying there long time. I had to look elsewhere!!! But there is always availabity for rooms with 4 beds.

Regarding Estadio Real... APARTA HOTEL ESTADIO REAL
Cra.77C 48-120, Tel. 437 26 96

I know the management personally in this hotel. Ask for Lina, Yaneth or Sandra. If you tell them "Soy referencia de Christopher" you will get a good discount. Also they offer the apartastudio at a great rate with breakfast included if your stay is 18 days or more. If you don´t tell them you´re a reference of mine, you´ll get the gringo rate. I had an issue with them where a user on this site went there without a reservation and without using me as a reference and got the horrible rate and a small room, when I called them to let them know he was referred there by me, they offered a good discounted rate and a bigger room. It´s a good, clean, safe and secure and quite new hotel near the Floresta metro station in a good neighborhood with excellent service where you can save a lot off of Poblado rates if you are willing to part with some of the luxuries such as you will get new and clean ceramic tile floors and showers instead of marble or granite.

Sprig.. What's the price w/ discount? How far is it from all the nightlife in Medellin?

i stayed a long while at .... the hotel intercontinental...it's the best in all respects. (imho)

if you can believe it, i stayed a while at hotel lucas in laureles. it's clean, lame, nice staff, reasonably priced. alright for being in laureles. i stayed only a brief while til i leased a condo in upper poblado. getting the heck outta laureles and back up to the land i knew best....poblado and las palmas.

from the condo, which by the way was fantastic, i leased a huge house in poblado viejo, barrio manila.

chapin...let me join hunter in thanking you for this most useful labor. everyone can use it.

Probably about $80.000 + IVA with breakfast I saw this comment "if you can believe it, i stayed a while at hotel lucas in laureles. it's clean, lame, nice staff, reasonably priced. alright for being in laureles. i stayed only a brief while til i leased a condo in upper poblado. getting the heck outta laureles and back up to the land i knew best....poblado and las palmas."

Substitute Estadio where you see Laureles in that statement. If you need to be within walking distance of nightlife this hotel´s not for you. I drive so a 5 minute ride to the 33 or 10 minutes to Palmas or 15 to Poblado-Lleras or 25 minutes to Sabaneta or Envigado doesn´t really bother me. I personally liked the attention and it puts you within walking distance of a few gyms and the stadium for a jog or a game. A short cab ride from EL Torre or Doña Clarita as well.

Thanks Sprig! I'll check it out when i visit in August. Do you know if ALL the hotels are book during the flower festival or fashion expo? Can i still get rooms you think? Or is the US where you can't get ANY ROOMS in a city during a big convention.

I don't know what the big deal is about El Poblado. Sure it's nice but to me it isn't even close to the real Colombia. I'll take the square in Belen over Parque Lleras any day.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

Cowboy/Caslug Cowboy, next time you get back into town, I´ll buy you a hot pandequeso on the Parque Belen square. None much finer! Sorry you missed the hoopla after the Nacional win. An amiga miya works in a bar with a big screen up in Poblado and there was no celebrating after up there like it was in Belen, Manrique, Buenos Aires, etc.

Caslug, I´m not sure if there´s room or not but feel free to start calling because time´s a wasting!! If you´re staying the 18+ days, you can get the aparta studio with stove, nice size fridge and kitchen table and the such for low 70,000´s a nite. (feel free to come for the pandequeso in Belen as well!)

I am certainly going to take you up on that offer! I'd like to see your place. Sometime around Christmas we'll be back for a visit.

comphrenshive guide to hotels.. Here's a link that has hotels in COL, just type in the city and country and they'll list a whole slew of them..

http://www.laguiahotelera.com/guia_hotelera/home.aspx

if anyone can help me out here, what street(cra.) (area) i should avoid. Is centro safe? The address of the hotel doesn't help me because i have no frame of references. I'm looking for a place for under 90k/night. thanks!
