Here's my fotos from my recent trip to BOGOTA!

Didn't want to wait to figure out how to post fotos on this board.

Ladies you can check out what young good COL guys are like(i'm sorry I don't have any of them in knickers, BUT They are in UNIFORM!)
Reina, as you can see they are young, good looking, and quiet friendly.
I'll post some more fotos later after I reduce size. of other areas and what some strata 4 & 5 look like.

well, that was a quick trip! Thanks for the nice photos - I like how green the city is - what a gret combination of plants, archirecture and people. My father lived in Bogota in the 40's and he used to talk about it fondly, before he died - now I see why.

As for the boys, thanks for the snack! :)Back to rocking the cradle....la reina

I like the fact that the 1 horsepower vehicle has a spare tire!

That cart was going.. right down the main street Calle 7 or something, i had to take a pic of it. At least the driver went in the right(slow) lane. I don't recall seeing a sight like that in Cali or CTG.

Caslug I dunno you look kind of Colombian, are you? Nice picks from Bogota. I have to go there next week. Maybe I'll take pictures of the ministry of foreign relations.

I saw plenty in Bogotá. The scary thing is they will pull off to the side but still in traffic and sit in front of the cart and eat an emanada or something, they even do this at night. I kept thinking someone would hit them.

Bogotá drivers are a an interesting breed, they drive more agressively than do the costeños, but I never saw anyone yelling like happens in the USA. Plenty of horns, but that was it. I like the way they squeeze 4 lanes into the space made for 3. In Cartagena they are all laid back and drive like my grandmother.

more fotos!! I just posted a bunch more, also some foto of neighboorhoods.

Atrevido, I'm american not COL. But in Cali they all think I'm Chinese while in Bogota some people(especially shop owners or streetvendors) think i'm korean or japanese.

I really wanted to take more foto of gov't buildings but was told that is was prohibited due to security reasons. In the states we can take foto of the whitehouse and congress no problem.

Kernow, i know what you mean about COL drivers, my taxi drivers have regular come within inches of the next car when they try pass or turn. BUT they don't get angry at the other drivers.

Wow were you doing shrooms when you took that Strata 4 pic. I think it is a little wacked out, everything is skewed. Kind of like one of those funhouse mirrors.

caslug says on Dec 7, 2004, 20:32:

it's the unique COL architecture.. J/K it's my digitial camera speed. Took the foto as the taxi was moving, digital camera has a slower shutter speed than conventional camera.

kernow62 says on Dec 8, 2004, 04:19:

Wow a horizontal curtain shutter. Cool effect. What camera do you have?

I use a very very cheap Fuji digital when in Colombia, and do not get that effect from moving vehicles. Mine does suffer from some really noticable barrel distortion at wide-angel though.

ACBlessing says on Dec 8, 2004, 08:07:

Camera recommendation The Sony U30 and U50 are both excellent cameras because they fit inside the palm of your hand (ultra tiny) or on a necklace...great for not drawing attention.

They have a fast shutter, enough to stop care motion and fast moving latinas in mini skirts.

They have a sharp lens and are 2.0 megapixel cameras which is more than sufficient for email and prints as you'll reduce the size anyway and...most importantly,

they power up and are ready to shoot in less than one second! No waiting for the thing to power up and no waiting between the time you press the shutter and it taking the pict.

Okay sorry...back to the thread...

I got a... cheap vivitar digital (vivicam3750) 3 Meg, talk about cheap, got at walmart for $85! I lost my more expensive fuji camera in Cali back june. THanks for the compliments guys, next time i go i'll take more fotos of normal bars, clubs, restaurant. I'm a city guy myself, so I enjoy the urban stuff more than the nature stuff.

i didn't fully read the manual before i took it with me to COL, so i still have to figure out the shutter speed thing. Especially trying to take pics from a moving vehicle.

must be the camera I have a cheap Vivitar too ... walmart bought as well ... $50 because it was last one in a messed up box. I noticed that when I take pics with a lot of straight lines in it they seem to warp, especially when taken at an angle. I assume the software is trying to compensate for the pixel stepping of the straight lines, but is doing a very poor job at it.

I used to have a Olympus digital camera and I never had that problem.

cheap camera.. is right, when i got it i figure i wasn't going to try to do any fancy shooting(ie, professoinal grade) so i opt to go cheap. That whay if i lost a camera AGAIN(lost one in JUNE) then I wouldn't too bum. But the camera is not good for moving targets or moving shots, but it's very acceptable for standard still shots.

One thing about the cheap version is that it DOES NOT have a target view to look thru like a regular camera. It's no problem during the day, because you use the LCD screen. BUT at night, or in low light(indoor) it's very difficult to aim, because the LCD screen is black. So for night shots I had to have my target(ie, amigas/amigos) hold a light so I can target it.
