HELP—Renting an apartment in Bogota

My Partner is flying to Bogota on the 6th of January to look for an apartment to rent for one year while we look for our permanent retirement home to purchase.
We have seen posts on this site that indicate renting an apartment can be problematic and difficult to do. We are looking for contacts with good apartemnts to rent in either Candalaria, or Teusaquillo barrios of Bogota. We need at least 2 bedrooms and will have a Basset Hound with us when we arrive.
Can anyone with ideas for us please reply ASAP.
Best,
Lalo

Apartment Rental I'm not familiar with Teusaquillo, but Candelaria may not be the best choice for someone with a sizeable animal like a Bassett hound, there is no grass anywhere around. No parks, just dirty city streets full of beggers and thieves. Not such a great place for foreigners either unless you have oodles of cash to spend on security, which since you are worried about spending $36 per day would seem to indicate that you don't.

My wife and I considered renting there, we too have a dog about the size of a Bassett hound as well as a toddler. We know an awful lot of people in La Candelaria, and with the possible exception of the very wealthy, whom we don't know, all have been broken into or robbed from time to time.

It's historic, beautiful, and charming, but we ultimately opted for the North of the city. It's a lot safer for foreigners and we can at least breath clean air from time to time, not to mention we don't have to constantly look over our shoulders.

Lodging downtown Greetings!

I have understood from the previous posts that La Candelaria is a big no-no for apartment rental. Now, if someone needs to live downtown, is El Centro Internacional (area of Hotel Tequendama) OK? Is it possible to find a 100 sq meter flat in a recent building (i.e., no more than 20-year old) in that area for USD 400? Thanks.

Best,
Mike

HELP—Renting an apartment in Bogota La Candelaria has an element of danger without doubt, particularly after dark, but it is certainly the inspirational part of the city and one in which I would highly recommend renting in! You can find some fantastic and spacious character filled places down there!!! I chose to live in El Chico while there, more based on security advice and naiviety. Given a second chance I think La Candelaria would be high on my list of preferred barrios. (Basset hound?)
