Be sure to find out what customs will allow through. I had one heck of a time shipping clothes (used & new with price tags). Customs would not let it in and I had to pay again to have it shipped back. Good luck.

I spoke to a Paisa friend in Medellin about this and she said there are way too many issues one has to deal with if one wants to donate anything to the poor in Medellin.

The best way is to just take a suitcased loaded with clothes, no price tags, on your trips and donate them to the needy, including suitcase.

At least we tried on PBH!

MT this is exactly what we do every trip. Between my daughter and wife and myself we get nine suitcases. My wife is learning about garage sales and we bring lots of great stuff. The only thing we can't get on the cheap is shoes.

On our last trip we had a minor problem as we flew Miami to Bogota and stayed a week and continued on to Medellin. On the flight from Medellin to Bogota we were only allowed 20 kilograms per person in total.

We shipped the suitcases door to door from Bogota to Medellin for 50,000 pesos.
With nine brothers and countless nieces and nephews nothing goes unclaimed.
