I live in LV & my advice is Hi Tzion,

I live in Las Vegas & have made the trip to/from Barranquilla about 7 times in the past 2 years. If you follow the above advice you will either have to drive to & from LAX + incur parking fees or you will have to pay for another round trip ticket between LAV & LAX.

On my past 4 trips I have purchased 2 roundtrip tickets. The first is between Miami & Barranquilla. In the later half of January you can get trips for a total of $447.15 on Avianca. The second round trip ticket to purchase is between Las Vegas & Miami. There are a lot more options between LV & Miami so I always buy the first round trip ticket first. Doing this may involve a hotel stay in Miami on the day of departure or a long wait in the Miami airport waiting for the one flight on Avianca to Barranquilla for the day. It all depends on what is most important to you - "best," "easiest," or "cheapest."

Go to travelocity.com to look at options. They always have lower cost trips than expedia.com. Must have something to do with the "add on" fees at expedia.com.

Hope this helps.

Don

AMERICAN Air Took my wife from barranquilla to Vagas last Christmas. We booked AVIANCA from Barranquilla to Miami, then took American to Vegas, then the reverse.

BEFORE I moved here, when my flights were originating from the States, AMERICAN booked me all the way through, bags checked all the way (No pick up and re-check at Miami. Return was different because of U.S Customs (need to re-check) but flights from VEGAS should be REALLY reasonable to MIAMI. BOTH those cities are high traffic destinations. Have ALWAYS been able to get great deals, just book 21 days in advance.

Check AMERICANS website for unadvertised specials.

While It Is.... difficult to predict air fares that far ahead I would follow the advice of your tio BAQ and tio DoninLasVegas.

You should be able to land a RT from Las Vegas to Miami for say $200 to $250 USD including taxes. Then Avianca for about $390 USD including taxes. Total $640USD including taxes. IMHO I don't believe you will do much better that that.

BUT, trying to guess that far ahead is tough. Remember to try and travel (to be safe) past January 15 to avoid the mafia-type holiday season prices. Another rule, always call Avianca reservations direct for the best price. You can always whine (Mrs. Gator is very good at this when asking to buy more shoes or when dealing with Avianca) and sometimes even beat the first price quote.

2 Hour Minimum One other important item, assuming this is your first trip here, AVIANCA requires that you check in TWO HOURS BEFORE the flight is scheduled to leave and they close their ticket counter ONE HOUR before scheduled departure time. My advice is to to allow a FOUR HOUR layover in Miami, if your flight from Vegas is delayed due to weather, mechanical problems, you need to leave enough time to allow for such mishaps. Keep in mind that Aviance only runs two flights a day direct to Barranquilla from Miami (unless they have changed in the past few months)so you DO NOT want to be missing your flight.

Expedia Hi, I always buy my tickets at Expedia.com I've been to Medellin about a month ago and I landed a pretty good price, I know they have same good rates to barranquilla because that was my first option but at the end I decided to go to Medellin. WHEN RETURNING FROM COLOMBIA ALLOW A MINIMUM OF 3 HOURS BETWEEN FLIGHTS SINCE US CUSTOMS ARE VERY SLOW, AND YOU WILL END UP MISSING YOUR FLIGHT BACK HOME.

Tzion...listen to BAQ He has thr right idea. Go with American to Miami, then Avianca to BAQ. Avianca is the ONLY airline with direct flights to BAQ from MIA. That's easy enough

Forget the Copa Air deal. Copa stinks, but more importantly who want to drive to LA? It just makes no sense to fly there either. I am sure it will be much quicker to fly directly from your hometown (Vegas) to Miami where you change planes to your direct and quick Avainca flight to BAQ. That's your best bet.
