HELP with finding a hotel in Barranquilla

I arrive in Barranquilla 11:40 in the night on August 28th and I am looking for a hotel.I don't want to hang around the airport for long at that time of night because it seems to be near a bad area. The only hotels that I have seen on my web search are the usual Prado, Del Norte, Puerta Del Sol. Royal shows that they have no rooms remaining. Does anyone know of any other hotels in Barranquilla other than these usual hotels that I have just listed? Surely has to be more than 4 hotels in a city of over 1 million people.

I know this great place with hourly rates; the only problem is they got real tiny bars of soap and the smallest towels you will ever see, but located in a very nice area of Barranquilla north of calle 72. I think is called “Culiadero by the hour”. They speak English. The owner is a retired NYC cop and a good Colombian/American friend of mine.

I'll get there, when I get there!

I can bring my towel and bar of soap
Thanks for the info, I know that more hotels are in Barranquilla but it seems that the "Big 4" monopolize the advertising from an international standpoint.

Re: Barranquilla hotel
I thought Hotel Majestic was OK. The usual - TV, AC, pool.
Around Calle 52 Carrera 54 if I remember OK. Not too expensive,
around 90.000 COP, I think.

Hotel There is a small but very nice and recently remodeled Hotel named Hotel del Country, it is very well located, with pool and in a safe area, I am not sure if they finished allready the Dann Carlton also very well located.

But anyway I will suggest you to stay at Prado it is very good and nice architecture.

When you arrive to the airport, do not forget to go to a little desk near the taxis (very easy to recognize), tell them where you are going and they will give you a ticket with the fare price and the address, so you don't have to pay for more or try to explain to the driver where you are going.

The airport is in a bad area but it is well guarded and does not have a straight direct access to the highway so feel safe nothing is going to happen to you at the airport.

You will find Barranquilla a very nice and friendly town.
