Help Needed with visit.Medellin

Hi everyone.
I would first like to say hello and i have finally found a site that talks about Colombia and not just the Chica"s all though i am sure they are lovely.I live in Spain at the moment but am English. I am going to be working in Brazil later in the year and am visiting Brazil in Jan-Feb,Then am planning a trip in March to Medellin, for 3 weeks. My plan is to move there while working in Brazil onboard an oil rig (drillShip) 28 days away and 28 days in Colombia.I have a friend in Cartegena, who can but me in touch with a English speaking friend of his in Medellin (Chica) handy as i am single. This will be my only contact. My Spanish is limited but i get by.The Flights are booked but no accomodation 10 March-31March.I was going to book a appartment with a Gringo site and pay 75dollars a night, but from reading on the site this seems to be a lot even though it was Poblabo. The appartment was very nice though. So if anyone can help much appreciated, any British there also.Drop me a line be nice to meet up with some people already set up there and show me the ropes and introduce me to some Colombian people. Also looking at going to college in Medellin to improve my Spanish help ther also needed there.Sorry for spelling Mistakes.

Thank Mat

Try any of these hostels:

As far as college I know EAFIT has a really good Spanish immersion program. http://www.eafit.edu.co/english/

For apartments, you could try:
http://www.apartamentos-amoblados.com/

Count on about 1.5 million to 2 million pesos per month.

que nota!

Be aware we have spelling and grammar police. The price may seem high but it is a short term stay. Search the internet I am sure you can find a place for 1/2 the quoted price. Good luck, I want to visit Brazil next -sweet!

Try the hostels Mat... cheaper and you'll be surrounded by foreigners who want to explore the city just like you.

Black Sheep is the better of the two hostels in Medellin (I've stayed in both).
Also, there is a gal there who teaches one-on-one Spanish classes for about $6.00 an hour.
You will easily find other like-minded people to hang around with and see stuff with.
