help needed from Colombians and lovers of Colombia worldwide!

On my website I am currently adding links to Colombian restaurants, either those that have websites or perhaps links to online reviews for said restaurants. Also links to any Colombian businesses outside of Colombia as well as those that might not be Colombian but might sell Colombian products, you know the sort of places where you can buy lulo pulp, or papa criollas.

I know Orlando but I don't know the Colombian links in other cities. I am sure there must be loads of Colombian links in NY, NJ, Chicago, Miami, Providence etc. but I will be damned if I know them.

So if you know any good links in your area please send them to the forum as I am sure they will be of interest on PBH. I will than add them to my site.

Help me make my links page a useful resource for Colombians worldwide.

did you check out Nestor Raul Anzola's directory of Colombian restaurants and tiendas worldwide? I know that he hasn't updated his list for some time now and many of then aren't certainly in business any longer but it's still a a major accomplishment and worth a look.

Yes, I already have the ones from his site that actually have links. Not many seem to have links though so I am hoping to add to his list which is a bit out of date although still useful.

I have found a couple in Georgia and one in Minneapolis, a few in NYC and one in Chicago so far.

Thanks Peter, I have eaten at Mama Vieja a few times, before they added the Mexican menu. I had some good meals and one bad one, the pork was coated with something that absorbed all the saliva in my mouth instantly it was a very weird experience.

For those in Orlando and elsewhere that have Bravo Supermarkets they have an excellent sellection of Colombian goods. For example Colombian chorizos how about 8 different brands to choose from, 4 different brands of lulo pulp, 4 brands of papa criollas, 3 brands of kumis, perhaps 10 brands of panela!! Most places I am lucky to find one of each if that. I even managed to find harina de platano excellent for thickening soups.

Tinto I read the article.....Boy I knew that place well. It is closed now and thank God. That article does not tell the whole story as to why he irritated the Chicago Colombian community.

The owner of this restaurant had the nerve to put San Cocho de Res on the menu, and then describe it as a "kind of soup that mostly poor Colombian people ate." What kind of crap is that? We were highly offended. I don't know what Colombia he lived in, but I don't think your average Colombian would appreciate someone describing the soup as a dish only for poor people. We were furious with him. And he did nothing to change it. In fact, I think he enjoyed irritating us. Fine, he did a good job at doing so. So his nonsense about us being irritated because he did not have gasiosa Colombiana or that he was not on Lincoln ave. just is not even remotely true.

As to the food....some dishes were ok. His Arepa con queso was good. B

Near San Francisco There is a restuarant called Cali Angela's in Burlingame, CA...about 16 miles south of SF. I will try and find a link to the restuarant for you.

For those who don't know my URL is www.gringoincolombia.com

It is a bit of a stretch to say it is a really useful website, but I hope to at least make the page of links very thorough and it must be getting popular because the links page has been bookmarked a lot as of late.

The section with links to Colombian businesses round the world is not ready for prime-time yet, so don't look for that section on the page just yet.

GringoDeLouisian that is exactly the sort of stuff I am looking for. It is a good site but the prices are a bit steep. For example a tin of frijol Antioqueño is a whopping $5.79! In Orlando I pay $.99 to $1.79. Papa criolla in a jar $6.59 I pay $2.50 - $2.99.

However for those who can't get stuff locally this is a good link.
