So, another solution, other than moving to Bulgaria, would be to stop watching TV. I know a few guys, however, who greatly improved their Spanish by watching them, paying close attention to the girls. My hot, 36-24-38, Cuban/Attorney ex-girlfriend used to watch one a day faithfully, and that encouraged me to learn a little more espanol.

Another solution is to insist upon critically discussing each program. Ask dozens of questions aiming to open their eyes to the fact that everyone on these shows is wearing designer fashions, that people lacking a certain 'look' are not cool, etc., and apply to real life. That might spoil it for them; if you watch TV with a critical eye, it becomes even more nauseating.

easy do like I do NOVELAS are forbidden on my TV especially when I am home.....when I am not home converter has my code and locked Colombian channels...the only think they can watch is channels in English CNN, Discovery,FOX so on and so on....this NOVELAS think has the country in a non learning trap.....I know its bad in N America but here its unreal.....then they wonder why we have 11 year old pregnant kids......duhhhhhh

"También Caeras" and "Sábados Felices" these two are comedy shows.
Caracol Television also has great local and entertainment news about Colombia, the News starts at 7:00 or 7:30 P.M.CST

dude.. novelas are the easiest way to understand the core values of the latin ppl.. you know.. I've seen some novelas and found myself submerged in one, after some thinking.. they are funny, you can really have fun in some episodies.. you know.. it's just like watching the OC or some other BS program or sitcom on the tv.. at the end you have SKY or DIRECT TV or TVCABLE !!

This is a common for most of them, BUT NOT ALL; moreover, main novellas consumers are mexican a latin people in US. For example, here in Colombia, we had no more than 2 hours of novella per day (only monday to friday), so Latin american people are smarter than you think... it is just a cultural difference.
