help for my friend with K-3

I need some help for my friend. He is applying for his K3 visa for his (now) wife and her 2 kids in colombia. The kids are about 7 and 9 I think. My question is....when the time comes for the interview in Bogota do the kids have to go with the mother to the interview? I told him that I think they do...but I wanted to be sure. He wants to set aside some money for the airfare. Thanks.

No... children up to 13 years of age do not need a personal interview, unless the consular officer at the embassy requires the applicant to be physically present. Don't forget, each child WILL need a Colombian passport valid for at least six month.
