Hello! New member saying Hi

Hi there..,

I just wanted to say hello! I've been following much of this website on and off for a year or maybe two now but have only now decided to join. I do so as I'm planning to visit there within the next 18 months- 6 at the earliest but probably 12 depending. I know it's a long way off but I've been reading many encouraging stories of people meeting and helping newcomers when they arrive and so on, that I thought it would be a good idea to start interacting. That way, when I do get there I hopefully might already have some contacts so I'm not so worried. It might even encourage me to come sooner but who knows.

Anyway a little about me- I'm from the UK (only 1/2 English though) and I currently live in Seville in Spain. I speak Spanish pretty well- it should be a lot better still by the time I make it to Colombia, although I also intend to visit Argentina first as I do have a contact down there. It will be my first time in Latin America. I've been to many places around the world including growing up abroad- so I like to be in different and new places. Oh- I'm 25 by the way.

Thanks for the great site and for being one of the best resources around. I've not looked at many more but I always come back here as it's alive.
Saludos

PS I've tried searching and backtracking through many pages, but are there many other people from the UK in Colombia, and on this site? Just wondering.

Thanks kernow62. I actually started reading about your trip yesterday when roaming around and found the link before I joined today. I've only read the first two pages so far but I'll continue with it later this evening.

Must rush now..

Kat 1 My parents are Welsh, I was born in Carmarthen, but I only lived there for a month, my father was in the Royal Navy, so I ended up living in Scotland, England, Singapore, Malaysia and Kenya, when I was in my early years, I went back to Wales when I was 12-18, where I lived in Newbridge.

But when I was 18 I left for the military and lived in other parts of the UK and the world, so although I am Welsh and speak English, I don't class myself as anything other than a modern day gypsy.

one for Hunter Eskimo on driving holiday in Wales when his car breaks down. Welsh mechanic opens the bonnet and says, "You've blown a seal." Eskimo replies, "So? You shag sheep."

and for me too it appears.. Nice- thanks for that, although I only read it properly on the second time.:)

I'm 1/4 Welsh, 1/4 Polish & (supposedly) some minute fraction Italian.

Anyway...
I have a question. As I mentioned above I've been reading back through all the pages and picking out the topics that interest me, and so far I've got back to page 50. I've found a few topics that I feel I could or would like to contribute to too, even though they're a couple of dozen or more weeks old. Is it alright to add to these topics or should I just let them be?

Hey Kat1 if you or anyone else come by Sevilla I'd love to hear from you and talk about Colombia and what it's like. I also like to go to Madrid a few times a year so if anybody's going to be there please let me know- thanks!
Kernow 62 I've only just finished reading about your travels. There was a lot more there than I initially thought, which is a good thing and the pictures are excellent too. Thankyou for sharing!

ecco I am glad you enjoyed my site. I mainly did it for my Colombian friends, and to show that Colombia isn't the way the popular media likes to portray it. I haven't been able to work on the Spanish translation of the site lately because of all the work about the house, but I will get cracking as soon as I am able.

As for commenting on old topics, I see no reason why they cannot be commented on. Perhaps someone will see a post they missed the first go round.

Another Welsh joke. They had a parade of all the Welshmen in the US. It was 5 miles long and 5 feet high.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
