Hi there..,
I just wanted to say hello! I've been following much of this website on and off for a year or maybe two now but have only now decided to join. I do so as I'm planning to visit there within the next 18 months- 6 at the earliest but probably 12 depending. I know it's a long way off but I've been reading many encouraging stories of people meeting and helping newcomers when they arrive and so on, that I thought it would be a good idea to start interacting. That way, when I do get there I hopefully might already have some contacts so I'm not so worried. It might even encourage me to come sooner but who knows.
Anyway a little about me- I'm from the UK (only 1/2 English though) and I currently live in Seville in Spain. I speak Spanish pretty well- it should be a lot better still by the time I make it to Colombia, although I also intend to visit Argentina first as I do have a contact down there. It will be my first time in Latin America. I've been to many places around the world including growing up abroad- so I like to be in different and new places. Oh- I'm 25 by the way.
Thanks for the great site and for being one of the best resources around. I've not looked at many more but I always come back here as it's alive.
Saludos
PS I've tried searching and backtracking through many pages, but are there many other people from the UK in Colombia, and on this site? Just wondering.

Hunter says on Sep 12, 2005, 14:23: Kat 1 My parents are Welsh, I was born in Carmarthen, but I only lived there for a month, my father was in the Royal Navy, so I ended up living in Scotland, England, Singapore, Malaysia and Kenya, when I was in my early years, I went back to Wales when I was 12-18, where I lived in Newbridge.

kernow62 says on Sep 13, 2005, 20:09: ecco I am glad you enjoyed my site. I mainly did it for my Colombian friends, and to show that Colombia isn't the way the popular media likes to portray it. I haven't been able to work on the Spanish translation of the site lately because of all the work about the house, but I will get cracking as soon as I am able.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
