hello, everyone...

it seems like forever since i've been able to post. got a new computer and it wouldn't take a 'log on'. i had dial up and finally got RR and now i can log on and give my usual opinions on any and all topics.

just wanted to say HI to all of you--you know who you are--i've missed you, your comments and your friendships.

finally got my passport woes solved and can get a new one so we'll be getting back to the promised land before long.

peace to all,

douglas.....dwmte at bellsouth.net

Hi dwmte Nice to see your handle again.

Any idea on exactly where in your promised land?

Hunter

hi hunter... real good to 'see' your voice, you're definately one of those "you know who you are" folks.

probably in llano grande or where you are? who knows. we have the house in envigado, but i can't stand the place. my wife talks like it's heaven on earth, but since i've known it--17 yrs--it's always had the air of a shit load of mafiosi wannabes. what can i say.

we have a new problem, our daughter doesn't want to 'move' back, as she wants to do her studies here in the states. this is definately a fork in the drain, as her wishes take presidence over mine. personally, i'd just like to drop fricken out and go back to llano grande and continue growing older. but! having a young child who has her whole future ahead of her takes presidence over the whimsical wishes of a grayhaired, falsetoothed ole fart and his demanding paisa wife.

hello douglas good to see you here again. Yeah, what don't we do for our kids! I am still living here in exile just because my children don't want to go to Colombia, not even to visit:( "too far away, too expensive, too dangerous"). I tried to make my daughter to listen to Juanes' Mi Sangre CD, she made me to stop it after five seconds "I hate that music, Mum, you know it!"

Anyway, my question was: any chance Wilma will be coming your way any time soon?

Cheers,
Desi

hello, maarit... so nice to hear from you, and yes, the kids come first. it's not like some form of martyrdom, it's just that they have their lives ahead of them, and ours, for the most part, are bihind us. i do what i do, gladly, not with chagrin. what ever serves her real interests best, i do. and it goes without saying, the educational system here in the u.s., both public and private is better than in colombia.

she's only in the seventh grade now, so i see a host of years ahead of us here, living in, as it were, exile. i'd love to be back in colombia for more than a visit. i'd rather for many reasons, live there. taking vacations for us is very expensive and i'd rather use those funds for a move. however, laurita's future is first; too, her siblings are all here and she wants to be in 'feeling' distance to them.

lots of love and best wishes to you and your family,

douglas
