PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Thought I would pop by to say hello
My name's Andy, I'm new here and from Scotland
Going to be travelling in south america from March and Colombia is one of my top places to go. Not planning anything too much but reckon I'll be there from around April until....well....who knows?? I might stay a while!
Reckon I'll be hitting Bogota first then maybe Caratgena, Medellin. Was just wondering if there are any bars or pubs or anywhere in these cities where single travellers or "gringos" like myself meet up?? Not that I'm wanting to stick to my own, far from it, but thought it might be an idea to get to know the ropes, meet some like minded people, maybe even some drinking buddies....
Don't really like the idea of just arriving and wandering around looking lost for the first 2 weeks with my limited spanish!
Anyway, thats all from me just now...better get back to learning my Spanish verbs.....aaarrgghhh
laters folks
Andy

Andy S says on Jan 7, 2008, 01:06: I remember in Stirling, shortly after the film Braveheart, Stirling town council decided to commission a statue of William Wallace outside the Wallace monument, but in their cutural stupidity they decided on a statue of Mel Gibson, and it wasn't even a likeness of him....when it was unveiled everybody was almost sick......and the very next day when my mum drove past it, I looked out the window and somebody had spraypainted a big cock on him and written "mel ya wank"

kat1 (Moderator) says on Jan 7, 2008, 01:11: Andy la Zona Rosa or pink Zone is an area of Bogotá where are all the bars and discos,This is the most popular, but there is another one call La Zone T, The Irish pub is located there in case you fancy a pint of Guinness :) another area of bars and discos is La Primera de Mayo, but this south of Bogota, very popular too but not many gringos go there because they are scare of the area, to me is safer then the zona rosa. the thing is you won't find many fforeigners there just one or two while the zona rosa and t are full of them.
