Crema de leche.

Shake well before using!!!

Comes in small tetra packs or plastic "bags".

Tetra packs are generally the cheapes and will cost you (depending on the brand) anywhere between about 1 and 3 thousand pesos.

The tetrapacks are small (personal kind of size) though.

Gringoloid, it should be OK. Use as is and use "regular" leche, not no fat or low fat. I use a eggnog recipe that has been in my family for generations. I just use a good Colombian rum instead of bourbon (too damn expensive here). If you serve to friends have extra copies of the recipe on hand.

12 egg yolks
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 1/2 fifths rum (30 oz or 1100 ml)
1 cup dark rum
6 cups milk
2 cups heavy cream (do not dilute)

In a large bowl (use an electric mixer), beat the egg yolks at medium speed for at least 10 minutes. Gradually beat in the sugar, rum, and if you have any, 2 oz brandy. Sir in the milk and let the mixture stand (This step "cooks" the eggs) in the refrigerator for a few hours. ( Because it is somewhat of a PIA I make the night before). To serve, beat the heavy cream, until it just holds a peak and then fold in and serve the eggnog. You can also save the whites of the eggs, beat adding sugar a little at a rtime and fold that in before serving.

I never use cream in coffee but Mrs. Gator says they have half and half at Carullas and Pomona's. I also have an excellent recipe for possum (chucha) if needed

inexpensive for me is 10k pesos.

Since I hardly have any work this month (everybody is on vacation) and I´m not going to be working for half of january either than everything is expensive for me.

To hell with the other ingredients. Just drink the rum and forget about the mixer.

Never could find any heavy cream americano when I had that stupid Ice Cream Shop in la Mayorista. The ONLY thing is what has been stated "Crema de Leche" Colanta I think was the best I found..but yes it is thicker than what is in the states.
