Health Insurance in Colombia

Any advice from American expats living in Colombia regarding health insurance? I plan on living in Medellin for a year on my own....I've heard a lot of different advice from people here but I'd rather hear from you guys living there....should I purchase an insurance plan before I go? Or is the local plan there good? And how much is this going to cost? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
