Heading to Caqueta, any word?

I am flying into Florencia and then driving out to a town called Belen de las Andaquies. My understanding is that the road South of Florencia is safe, but that North, towards Caguan, there has been some FARC presence. Anyone been that way recently? Also, what's Belen de las Antaquies like? I saw from the map that its in the foothills and next to a national park. Is it hip or what?

I'd definately be interested in hearing of your experience in Caqueta. I went when I was really young and it was one of my favourite trips I have ever taken. Horseback riding through those trenches is a surreal experience. I'd love to go back one day.

Ok, Gato. Sorry, I had to bugger off and get a map. Belen de las Andaquies? I'm afraid I have not been that far over into Caqueta, only on that road between Florencia and Suaza, and that was in October - no problems, lotssa militia. I'd like to echo romy - Can you keep us posted? Cuidate mucho!

Be careful gato. My wife was baptized in Florencia and needs to get her baptismal certificate, but we are paying someone to go get it. There is no way in hell I would send her there.

Still, it's a good thing you are flying there is much less danger. However, please be careful. Even though you may be there to help people, many will still see you as a target. Do you actually know the people whom you will be visiting?
