PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
Hi,
My wife and I will be moving to Bogota in about a months time so that I can open offices for my South African company there.
My wife is currently 2 months pregnant and will in all probability be having the baby in Bogota. Does anyone know how I go about getting medical cover for her - should I do it in Colombia or tey an international medical aid? What are the medical facilities like - I have only heard very good reports? My wife only speaks english - are we likely to find a mid-wife or doctor who speaks english?
Any help would be great.

Gator says on Feb 17, 2006, 20:22: We Have No.... problem with the quality of medical care here in Bogotá. Our doctor is a graduate of the U of Florida Medical College (who else would the old Gator have) and did his internship at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft.Lauderdale and his internship in Philadelphia Our insurance is with Colsantitas. Lucia Rojas says on Feb 17, 2006, 23:18: No, the truth is we dont have any doctors or medical facilities , or hospitals or anything.... no health services... plus nobody in Colombia speaks english and they are no translators....we still live in trees and women have babies on their own in the field.. the baby just drops in the middle of the plantation.........make sure you get a doctor that studied in the states, colombian doctors can't read or write plus they were not taught in the States, which probably means that no other education system works... as i said.. no reading, no writing, they do get a lot of hands-on practice with all the dead dropping around from the violence and drugs... ......................................

Gator says on Feb 18, 2006, 10:50: Lucia Rojas... did you mention that the ambulance is a red and white cart pulled by a burro with a hat containing a blinking red candle.. To clear traffic they just jab a stick with an nail into his ass and the bray clears the other carts out of the way. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
