have anyone here ever been to Los llanos orientales

that should be a destination in Colombia that is off the beaten path...

Yopal, Tauramena, Pto Lopes, acacia, San martin de los llanos, Restrepo, cumaral...
my mother worked in La Macarena and Pto Gaitan.

It is not Popular area specially way south of the Llanos orientales due to the presence of the guerrillas, but Villavicencio and the towns i mentioned above are quite safe to go..

Peter it is not cheap but not expensive as Cartagena specially in the little towns.
it is a beautiful area to explore.

at the end of diciember 2007 we went on a fishing trip along the rivers meta and manacassias for about a week. taking the car throuogh villavicencio and finally to puerto gaitan. Its a wonderful area of the country to vist, interesting cultural changes, great scenery, good food and excelent fishing, just get up and go! nowadays the risk is still present with the obvious problems, but just do it
