Happy planet index: Colombia no 2

It's confirmed another time: Colombians are among the happiest people on the planet according to The New Economic Foundation.

No 1 is the small island state of Vanuatu. Colombia is second. It's interesting to note that all countries in central and south america are among the top 10 in the happiness index. There is appearently something about life in this part of the world which makes people happy.

Better get back there quick then. UK is number 108. When I tell my husband this it will just reconfirm how much he hates it here! I have never seen him so unhappy as he has been much of his time in the UK since we came here 4 years ago. We have just bought an apartment in Cartagena and reading this has made me re think how long we should spend here before moving back (ie move back asap!)

There have been several threads on happiness... including scientific studies of large populations using methodology that provides results that are valid and reliable... The studies just keep piling up. Colombians are happy people in spite of a few problems in Colombia.

You know how I hate to contradict you, platanin lindo, but I really don't believe a word what they say. The other study, the one that I published and nobody read, had very different placings for every country on this list. Colombia was still fairly high up, on place 34, but the happiest countries seemed to be the Scandinavian countries, Austria and Switzerland. Also USA was high up. It all looked much more realistic to me.

Maybe it's just caleños that are not happy about anything right now.

Desi

No te preocupes Desi, I appreciate your sharing the meta-analysis of over 100 studies which shows Colombia beats out three quarters of the world's countries (of the 178 countries included in the analysis)... so my faith in Colombia and its happiness remains unshaken. Even in Cali en las casas privadas tanto en los clubes, tabernas, los sitios, las parrillas, etc. Cali sigue siendo Cali pachanguera.
