Gym Decision in Bogota

So I went to check out some gyms today and am faced with an interesting decision.

First I went to Athletic People Sports Club, which was a very nice place and had all the classes, including spinning included. It was $1,370,000 for the year.

Then I went to Helena del Mar and it was an ok place and had many classes, including spinning included in the price. This one was $420,000 for the year!!!

Yeah, big difference. AP Sports club was definitely bigger with nice machines, especially the spinning room. But Helena del Mar has everything I need just with not as nice machines. They also do liposuction and nose jobs there, which kind of freaks me out...

I haven't checked the gym out in Unicentro yet, but I hear its expensive, maybe similar to AP sports club

I am a little worried about the quality of classes at Helena, while I feel like they will definitely be good at AP.

Any advice or experience that could help me? Or any other good gyms near Unicentro?

$1.370.000??????
That is CRAZY!
I am near Unicentro and have checked out the gym there. Very small. Very little equipment and VERY expensive. Dont' remember exactly how much.
I joined Hard Body just one block off Avenida 15 on Calle 106. I paid $400.000 for the year and classes are included (aerobics, rumba, spinning etc.) but don't really use them. My wife does and she likes the instructors/classes.
There is a pretty decent free weight area and machines as well as approx. 20 eliptic (sp?) machines, 5 stationary bikes and 15 or so treadmills.
I think they have a deal right now for about $450k plus 2 extra months, a training session/evaluation included.
BTW, lots of gym combine a 'peluqueria' as well as lipo, and other 'beauty' treatments.
I am happy with my gym and would NEVER consider paying over $1million pesos!
Good luck.

Try Spinning Centre - one in Zona Rosa and another next to P 93 and some other locs. Is a good gym, cheaper than say body tec and often they have good specials.

Investment Strategy - buying when others are crying!! Offloading when others are gloating!!!

There is a body tech in Av 19 - calle 106. I a not sure about Helena del Mar, but i used to go to AP sports club and it is fantastic. it has everything you need, the people who work there are very nice and the classes are a lot of fun.

To use any Bodytech you would need to pay extra money, most brand gyms are kind of expensive, although the year subscription to any gym would look cheap if you go at least 300 days a year. For a gym not to expensive and with good weights and aerobics, rumba, tae-box and else try The Spa Gym three blocks north of Bulevar on Ave Suba.

A cheaper version of BodyTech is Athetic People also with several gyms thru the city.

web, I found Bodytech to be cheaper than AP. They do all sorts of discounts for students and peak and non peak hours. AP did not offer much choice in terms of the membership type.

Interesting prices.. About $58/month USD, (agusto especiale)..I pay, in the states, about $45/month for a very nice gym. Seems a bit expensive..

though I appreciate the quality of women that will attend these 'social club' gyms because the eye-candy is good motivation. I'll be damned the day I hit on girls that spend the whole morning/afternoon at the gym drinking smoothies and talking on their cell phones (probably with a girl doing the same thing at a different locale, or perhaps the smarter chubby friend that doesn't waste her time...)
Anyways, $60 a month is cheap if I compare it to Calgary prices for a good gym. The problem (especially Cali) with going to a not so high-end gym is the ventilation. I go to Fitness park when I'm there, I believe it's about $50 monthly. But if it wasn't so freaking hot in the afternoons, I would get my exercise outside. I have no events to train for when in Colombia and I can maintain my beach-body without any equipment...

Location, would certainly play a big factor in your decision. Albeit, price at the same time. Having a car, or using public transportation. I would go to either Body Tech or Hard Body Bogota. My wife and I are members of Body Tech and Hard Body. In terms of price, amenities, locations in and around Bogota. I like Hard Body. You have to watch out for their specials, which on times, I've seen at 350k to 400k a year. Compare that to Body Tech's 1.3 million a year. But not all locations are created equal. For Hard Body, we like going to the one's in Calle 169 or Chia. I guess, you can call them sport clubs, in terms of 24hr Fitness. We also like going to the Body Tech on 103 con 19. Like I said, it all depends on pricing and location. Just depends on your preference.

It all depends at the end on really how many days out the 365 on a year subscription are you going to really go. At the end the gym decision as well was restricte to the North east area of Bogotá

I don't think id go to the gym as often as I do now if I had to walk more than 3 blocks. So it depends on the person and how strict they are about their fitness routine. I am a bit clueless as to prices as last time I was in Bogota I noticed everything was a bit more expensive. Gyms in London (like everything else) are quite expensive, I pay 60 quid a month for my membership, so half of that sounds like an okay price to me.
