guns last night?

Did anyone in Poblado hear all the guns going bang-bang last night?? I heard so many guns -- bang-bang-bang - then another set of two but slightly different tone, etc. I must have heard at least 20 shots last night. I guess that is what I get for sleeping with the windows open and the fan off. It's been a little chilly the last 3 or 4 days at night, perfect sleeping weather.. Ironically, I never heard any sirens..

larry.....welcome to medallo! when i first moved there in the '80's, that's all i heard. 24/7. and the bombings. there would be shoot outs at the estaderos in las palmas, while folks were trying to eat lunch. it was so common, you'ld just wait til the noise was over and then continue your conversation and lunch. folks would drive by on the las palmas road to el retiro would be shooting it out as they drove along. wild.

so if it's a bit rough around the edges---right, polboro---just know that it's a million percent better than it was just 12-15 years ago....and twice as good as it was a year or so ago.

keep the faith, the bad guys have pretty much taken their lucha to the selva. and the capos live in miami with their enemys from gobernation. in miami, they party together.

I didn't want to be the first to say it - so I bit my tongue. But dwmte7, Catfish, and others are correct. There is a total difference in sound between a gun-shot and a firecracker. A gunshot has a much crisper, higher compression than a firecracker. It "hits" harder. I can hear guns being fired in the distance, and can tell you approximately what caliber of rifle, if it was a pistol rather, or a shotgun. No combat experience personally (thank God), but 37 years of shooting and hunting under the belt.

It´s hard to tell for people who have never shot a gun and only know the sounds on tv which are different depending on what movie your watching.

About a week ago someone was setting off firecrackers all night long in the same spot. From midnight till 7 am. It was annoying as hell and I couldn´t sleep well because it was pretty loud. No music, no sound of a party...just fireworks. I love setting off fireworks but I honestly don´t get how someone can set off small firecrackers hour after hour. I would be bored after an hour.
