Stores If you're looking for spanish, latin type guitars then the best stores are in the downtown area.

If you're looking for electric guitars there are a few stores all over the city

Guitars Back in 1964, I purchased an acoustic guitar in Cali.
It was hand made. It was just fine, in Colombia.
Carried it back to the U.S. and the back of it cracked.

also, in Venezuela, I purchaed what they call a "Quatro",
which is like a Ukelele. Same thing happened when I took
it back to the U.S. IT was also an acoustic type.

My father also purchased a Harp for my mother (for christmas).
it was also made of wood. The same thing happened. It came from Venezuela.

I think the problem may be the humidity.

All of these instruments were beautifully made, but I would not
recommend you buy an acoustic one unless you want something to hang on the wall to look at.

Electric guitars may be OK, but I wouldn't buy an acoustic one.

Bruce...quick questions How did you bring them back? De-stringed, carry on or regular baggage?

Construction technology is a lot better now than 1964, so maybe it's not so much of a problem these days.

I play bass and guitar, and have priced certain brands in Colombia and electric instruments seem to be slightly higher there than in the USA, but not too much more.
