How much is it, I have contacts in Bogota?
Is it canned or "del sifon"?

Kenblanquito, if you recall from the other guinness thread last week, Diageo only announced it's import on thursday. Lordy knows when it will arrive

Canned Guiness is crap. If it is kegs, then the next question is...Is it from the Brewery in Dublin? Any Guiness drinker knows the difference between Guiness in UK vs. Guiness in Ireland (including the Northern Ireland). I had a pint in a Irish Pub in Vancouver on Granville street and it was almost as good as the Irish Guiness. The keg was from Dublin.

As a born and bred Paddy, who has sunk many a pint of plain in Dublin, I can confirm that yes indeed it is well known that Guinness doesn't "travel". the best pint is to be had within shouting distance of St James Gate.

The problem with the way they drink draught Guinness in the UK is that they don't leave it settle, so they drink it brown with a milky head?? rather the smooth black liquid with the creamy head that we drink in Ireland!! Makes me salivate just thinking of it... As we say in Ireland when describing a pint of the black stuff "there's both eating and drinking in it!!!"

British brewed Guinness is made with heavy water and is often pasteurised. That's why it's a vastly inferior product to the Irish stuff.

I'd bet it is coming from their brewery in Panama which means, sadly for the paddies, it will look the same but sure won't taste the same.

Hard water. I meant hard water. Not heavy.

Heavy water is what Nazis use when they're trying to develop atomic weapons.

Kalder, they don't brew Guinness in London anymore, they haven't done for about 3 years

kalder says on Nov 30, 2008, 03:16:

So the stuff served up in London pubs is imported from Ireland now? It still tastes bloody horrible. They must piss in it or something.

Yes Kalder, it is from St James's Gate brewery in Dublin. I know a lot of people were anticipating a marked improvement in the quality of London Guinness, and it was an improvement that never arrived.
