Ok, how about the aguardiente shots treatment?

We're in the same boat. I did take some Azitromicina antibiotic and that seems to be helping out.

We'll see tomorrow how I feel.

Don't take antibiotics to cure a common cold. Aguapanela, very hot, honey,, lemon and a shot of rum in it at night, go to sleep, under a blanket, sweat ot out and you'll feel better next day. Or much worse, if you repeated the medicine a few times. Either way, it's an improvement.

i find staying in bed always makes me feel worse. Get up, take a shower, cover up in layers and go for walks if it isnt too cold or rainy.

Oh, I take my cue from the farm animals...or animals in general. They know instinctively what to do when they're sick, They stop eating and lie down.

I believe in rest and letting your body handle whatever is ailing you without puttting any additional demands on it. A day or two of bed rest (even better if you can sleep regardless of the hours), clear liquids and fasting takes care of minor viruses and colds. Without medicines that always have side effects. Lots of water and lots of rest. And yes, CK, between naps, get up, shower and get some fresh air.

Of course if you have something more serious you need to see a doctor and take medicines.

I've often wondered why doctors suposedly give antibiotics for colds / viral infections. It is like ZERO SPF sunblock.
Hope you feel better soon LaCamp.

DONT DONT DONT take antibiotics for a simple gripa!!! They are not a good solution and can make you resistant to them, so when a time might come that you really need them they won´t work.. Aiii

I know Colombians see gripa as a major illnes.. just relax... drink LOTS LOTS LOTS of fluid (not sugary - prefarably water) with lemon. Rest. Sleep. Relax. If it takes longer than a week (being really strong after a week, not getting better) go see a doctor ASAP.

Something is running around Cali according to Mrs. Gator's sisters, three of whom are down. If it is a virus nothing much really helps except time. The sister's doctor recommended rest, asprina, and about four days.

If it is/was Dengue fever believe me, you WOULD know.

I hate aspirina, I love dolex and paracetamol.. Dengue fever is different though, you have to throw up a lot and make chichi all the time.

The backward people that I live with don't shower when sick and beleive that sick babies need to be bathed in very hot water. They even did it at a clinic one time. To me the hot bath would only help increase the temp of the baby. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I agree, the best for the flue is plenty of rest, lots of water and keep the temperature down

Lowell, when babies run high fever it's good to bring it down with cool water. Bringing the fever down if it's not too high may even slow down the recovery. The body fights against the invading virus or bacteria by raising the temp; the doctors here say that you can wait a couple of days before giving the child any medication that brings down the fever.

Now, if the body temps run high, over 39,5 celcius or so the danger for seizures increases and the temps needs to be brought down. But no ice-cold water please! Just cool tap water.
