Greetings from Colombia- Week 2

Hi Everyone! I'm having way too much fun out here! Don't have the energy to write in details but I'll throw out some names and places I've visited and emphasize on some personal experiences I've had so far.

First and foremost, I've never prayed so much in my life! I pray before and after I ride the buses and taxis. I don't know who's crazier out here- the drivers, the cyclists or the pedestrians. I feel like I put my life in someone else's hands every time I leave Mosquera and for this I go to church and thank all the Saints I know. It's survival of the fittest out on the streets and my friend always calmly says not to worry- HA! Easy for her to say. Strangely enough, I felt safer on the ride to Boyaca- Chia, Tunja, Raquira, Villa de Leyva and all the places along the way (I puked out the window though...a pleasant treat for the chulos). The views were magnificient out by the countryside...so tranquil. The churches seemed to get bigger and beautiful the further away from Bogota and arepas con caldo seemed to always hit the spot during long drives.

I think it was at Portal de la Ochenta where we were being followed by 2 young men. One of them was looking at me from head to toe, eyeing my bag and poked around corners checking on me. I told my friend and sure enough she said that we were being targeted alright. Lost them at Exito thankfully but my heart raced a bit. I wondered why we just didn't go straight to a security guard.

Went to Cdn embassy to assist my friend and took pic of the statue/building only to be told that I had to erase the photos from my dig. camera-oops! Same thing happened when I took pics of people/places out on the streets and there were police or militares in view- oops again! Being a tourist doesn't count out here!

I'm eating way too much, yet, I bought the tightest jeans ever! Why? To see if I had a butt! Who knew?!!! Look out J-Lo! I've eaten practically everything that's put in front of me (every part of a pig, at least, and the ONLY thing I don't like so far is rellena.) Is it true that in El Corral the meat is not real beef? People say the burger meat are made of worms? Please say it isn't so!

I love the nightlife but haven't tried outside of Zona Rosa...yet. I love aguardiente (I don't get hangovers strangely.)

I played soccer (there's a court right in front of the house)and scored a goal (top right corner). One of the players on the team gave me his jersey for it.

I learned how to make helados because there's a sign outside our window that says we do. I told Mamita to raise the price b/c she wasn't profitting. Now we put ciento pesos worth of helados in the 250 pesos copas!jajaja...

I went to the hospital (or clinic) b/c I got sideswiped by a motorcyclist. I'm fine...just some bruises to show for it. I drank the pain away and now I've got bronchitis! San Andres this weekend...no stopping now!

Until next time...

worms and maggots is what I heard, Anny put some tabasco, and curry on there; it'll be okay.
(And, eat enough pataya in the morning, so to wash those worms out by night,...lol)

Does anyone enjoy themselves anymore than this lady?
Glad you're having a great time.
I don't think any pbh'ers will report you, if you don't show up for work on time in the Great White North.
You still got week 3 and 4 to go?

'what does it mean, when one of you (colombians) tell another: YOU WERE NOT/ARE NOT. 'COLOMBIAN ENOUGH'?? jejeje..a mixture, I think, of stupidity mixed with a false sense of arrogance.. How 'colombian' do you have to be? to be 'colombian enough
