Noticed this article on Yahoo about the guys caught smuggling drugs with US Army aircraft. Talking about the greed that got him started into the smuggling. One thing I don't like is that they have a picture of a Special Forces guy training the Colombian soldiers. The unit that Rosas is from has nothing to do with the mission that the SF Community is responsible for while deployed to Colombia.

Dan says on Sep 7, 2005, 11:55: I deploy with the SF guys, I can't say that SF is problem free but they are normally better covered up. That's all that's done, like shown in the picture, train the soldiers and that's it. Some of the guys in the Military in general are idiots. I know one that should have gone to jail but instead, what it was he did was kept quiet and they STILL promoted him. Now he's looking at getting promoted and still doing stupid stuff. Kind of makes me wonder whether they're trying to un-intentionally encourage stupidity. In a way it's like: It's ok if you screw up, But hey, in the mean time, you get awarded since no one will no what you did in the first place. Crap like this is reason enough that I am considering leaving the military, just not sure what I would do yet. God Bless America! 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Mr. Hollywood says on Sep 10, 2005, 10:15: Greed The underlying premise of this story is true. Of course, "greed" is what leads people to risk everything smuggling drugs. And I'm sure to a US enlisted man making $20,000 a year the temptation of a big windfall is large.

aztec says on Sep 21, 2005, 09:41: Dan this... ..is the modus operandi in every organization whether it be the church or a university. Rather than fire/discipline a screw up to avoid embarrassment the employee is transferred or promoted out of their area of responsibility.
