This year in Colombia, I've been staying at a hostel called Bogota B y B. It's located in Tuesaquillo, Avenida 32 #15-63. The staff here is great; the other night we all went out for some live salsa with the some of the staff. Everyone is incredibly friendly. I've been in Hostel International and Platypus but none of the staff there is like the people here. Everyone talks to you, gets to know you, is incredibly friendly, and in the end is more like a friend than staff, which has created a great atmosphere for the time I've been here. The price is good as well, like $18000 per night, but they also have a washer and drier here that works great. And they have free internet, including wireless internet. They're also open 24 hours, so you can stay out as late as you want. Overall, it more feels like I'm traveling with friends even though I'm here on my own in Colombia. The walls in the kitchen are covered with messages from travelers, which is something cool albeit small. This may sound like an ad almost, but it is really this great. I recommend this place to anyone and everyone, no matter what you are doing in Colombia. In the least, check it out. I've fallen for it and I've only been here 4 or 5 days.

You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

KyleHanky says on Jun 6, 2008, 08:46: Well, $18000 is about $10USD. They have three dorm rooms; one I believe with 3 beds, another with 8 and another with 10. There's also one hotel-like room with your own bathroom and privacy. I think it costs a little more but how much, I'm not sure. I think it's about 30.000 pesos per night, which is about $17USD. A currency converter tells me that 18000 Colombian pesos is something like 266,500 Ecuadorian Sucres. I have no idea if that's right because I've never been to Ecuador, but that's what the converter says.
