government teacher placement program?

A Colombian girl told me the government here has some program where they place teachers in public schools and it's supposed to pay pretty well. Anyone heard anything about this?

Not sure about what she told you but, in order to work in a public school here you need to be a proffessional in any area, besides that, you need to present a test, the test will show the goverment, how qualified you are in an especific subject and then you will be assigned to the free places available where u applied for. The payment is well compared to private schools who pay you for hours, in public schools you have the same money no matter how many hours you work. Dont know where u are from but havent heard from any foreigners working as teachers in public school here.

No inventes sapo...ya vas a hablar mal de la costa....jejej true though. What i have heard is that to the test part everything is clean, where the devil interferes is when you are going to pick the place available, some want to stay close to santa marta then that person gives money to the people in charge so they dont send them to the PM. =))

Good to know Bill, think that s different from what i have known about CONCURSOS here.

elSapo they are not allowed to do that legally, they have to request for a teacher to the Ministerio de la Educacion (Ministry of Education Office) and sometimes it take a while before tehy are sent.

Getting hired in a public university is a completely different thing.
