I bought a dozen of bottle. Good wines at a very reasonable price.

If the dumb Irish does not show up, they may last some weeks.

Robi,

Noted. Are the Italian wines not worth buying?

robi666 says on Apr 5, 2008, 18:06:

Well, I saw some economical wines at high prices. Something that in Italy would cost 4 euros at 28,000 pesos.
I do not buy Italian wines in South America. I buy South American wines.
And I absolutely love Chilean affordable wines. I think they have a great quality-price ratio.

Italian good wines are excellent but not the same quality-price ratio on affordable wines.

But I am not an expert, just a lover...

From Chile we like Villa Maipo & Santa Rita. Last week a local store had Maipo Cabernet for $10.500. I can´t find a good Shiraz though.

I agree, have had Italian wine in SA that was OK but for the price Chilean or Argie is much much better.

' a la orden!'

In general, what are the good places to buy South American wine in Medellin?

Still Pomona, even on a non-discount day? Other options?

¡save pow wow!

Stuff is really not that much cheaper in Colombia, at least at the big markets. I think I paid 16,000 for a quart of rasberry ice cream at Pomona. What stores do the estrato 3 or 4 people shop at?

robi666 says on Apr 6, 2008, 11:10:

Pedro,
prices of wines in Carefour, Pomona or Carulla do not vary much.
What I do, it is just wait for an offer and buy some, which is not a rare event at all.
20% is a common event on some wine.
If I run out and I do not want to wait, I just buy one bottle of the cheaper ones, like Gato Negro.

But I reserve the shitty and cheapest ones for special occasions, like the one Ray drunk in large quantity at the PBH party at his friend PepeA's place. Hell... he could drink antifreeze and he would say "superb"!

"Semillon at less than 10,000 pesos" glup!!! what was the original price?

I won't buy a bottle of wine in Colombia less than 30.000 onwards, i have drunk cheapy wines and they are killers.

There are decent wines for much less than that Kat. Of course, not Colombian wine.
You just have to know what to buy.
