Good place to stau in cucuta? quik replies please

So the VISA process got messed up... EAFIT didn´t include some of the papers i needed and the woman was abit of a cow anyway.... When i went back to ask more questions she was with a mate in her office dying eachothers hair. Hard worker.

Anyway, I gambled the whole trip and lost. I´m now stuck in San antonio but plan to head over to Cúcuta in the next half hour to find somewhere to stay until monday. Cheap is definitely what I´m after, but also safe.

Cheers

Christian

I´m trying to wait for a reply from the Uni, they should be sending the letter from airport to airport, at least thats what the consulte requested. I´m considering staying in San antonio at the minute. What ever is cheapest.

If i went back to cucuta, would i have to bother with the stamps? i see hundreds of people just crossing the border. Instead of doing them again now, again on monday morning and again to go back to colombia, i could just do it once everything is done.... bad idea?

I remember in May your post "Am I going to survive with 2.00.000 peso"
I said at that time
"he is coming here with only 2,000,000 peso with no other source income only the hope of finding a job ,I think you will survive for a few weeks 3 or 4 than after that you will either die or become just another one of those foreign scammers here that claims they just got robbed and need 10,000 peso to take a taxi to their embassy."

I think you should cut your loses while you still can and go back to Chile,
you seem to have a black cloud over you here.

Just take a walk over the bridge. The taxi fare is equal to one night in a cheap hotel. There are very cheap trucker hotels just as you enter Colombia and e few clean and safe hotels 3km up the road in Rosario which is walking distance to the border.

The hotels in Rosario close to the square were charging 25,000 pn last time I was there. Just ask at the cop station which is also on the square

I think you´re quite the pesimist stephen. The things that have happened to me are nothing short of normal. I´ve been in Colombia over a month now and should be able to survive a few more weeks before i get paid. I have a good job at EAFIT and should be earning 1,600,000 to over 2,000,000 depending on my hours... plus the classes are back to back, i get free intensive language classes of any of the 7 they teach and as i live next to the uni i can use the swimming pool frequently. Not to mention the girls ill meet working there.

Dark cloud? Take your sunglasses off mate ;)

BTW I´m staying in san antonio now for what should be 18,000 a night but they made a mistake and i got it for 12,000. The official rate for the Bolívar is noway near the rate here. I can´t believe how cheap some produce is here.

At the bottom end of town is a club with a pool and very cheap drinks, worth checking out when you get bored.

Cheers Logi. Tomorrow i have to head into cucuta to pick up what EAFIT has sent me. I met a cucuteño in chile when i was there and i´ve got in touch and he´s gonna see if a family member can put me up tomorrow and sunday to save a bit of cash.
