Good mozzarella cheese in Colombia

Anyone know where I can find really good mozzarella cheese in either Medellin or Bogota? I love to make some nice Italian dishes every once in a while. I would even buy bulk if you know a wholesale location.

Thanks in advance!

In Bogotá, there is a place of calle 170 and autopista norte, north side, going east, I will post the name later. I don´t know if it is too good, but many people do buy there.

Del Vecchio makes pretty decent mozzarella, like the real thing, it comes in pouches with water. You can find it at Carulla and most other supermarkets. Not expensive.

"Del Vecchio" and "Delizie Italiane", both decent (Del Vecchio slightly better), both inexpensive (around 3,000 COP for 100 grams), better the buffalo milk version.
In Carulla, Carrefour, Pomona, etc.
Need salt to be added.

Roci, I do not find them tiny... more or less like in Italy.

You can have a VERY good dish of Melanzane alla Parmigiana in "Salvatore Crispino", in Laureles, Circ. 1era.
A must. Together with an exceptional home made mozzarella and warm bread.
Not expensive.

I agree with Vic. The alpina is the best I have found in comparison with what I ate back in Texas. I know it is not authentic mozarella (in the bag of water) but it comes at a more affordable price and is the best out of the ones in its category.

PepeA,

I tasted a excellent cheddar in Pomona once, that was made in Baq, never seen it again though, Pomona also has a selection of foreign cheese, but as you say its expensive compared with the Colombian ones, which apart from the one mentioned above suck.

I went looking for Del Vecchio mozzarella without success. Their website doesn't list mozzarella as one of their products. Which of their products would be closest to mozzarella?

Thanks jonas. Don't know how I missed that!!. But I haven't seen it in the stores on the coast - maybe I need to look more carefully!! I haven't tried Pomona yet...

Edit: I just noticed that the English version of the website doesn't show all of the products. That makes me feel a bit better...

Hey hongo,
for some strange reason, I cannot find Del Vecchio lately in Medellin, too.
Look for Delizie Italiane.
