Golf in Bogota

Hi everyone,

I will be spending more time in Bogota and would like to learn more about the local golf scene. I have had friends take me to a couple of nice private courses, like Hatogrande, but would like to learn about public golf courses...Thanks

Forget Public I think they all pretty much stink. You should go to all the clubs. Start with Country, Carmel, Hato Grande, Ask about a "temporary" gringo memebership. You dont have to buy a share, just pay monthly. You can also look for members that want to "rent" thier memberships for a monthly fee. There are so many private clubs you should be able to find one that will offer you an affordable membership. If you join the American Society, they used to do lots golf outings.

Forget public Thanks SiempreHero,

That's what I had heard...that the publics suck. I like your idea of 'renting' a membership. Hato Grande was awesome, and the clubhouse facilities maybe the best i've ever seen.

Golf Courses There are over 20 golf courses in the vecinity of Bogotá. My knowledge is that only two are public, one in La Florida park behind the airport and one in La Calera called La Cima if my memory does not fail.

La Cima I think La Cima is private, but it is so cheap to join, it seems public. Not a bad course if you dont mind playing on top of a cold rainy mountain, inside of a cloud all the time. Lots of fog too. Sometimes you cant even find your caddy when he goes for a ball. Rather spooky as I recall. No driving range, just a net. I heard it is the second highest golf course in the world next to one in Bolivia.
