Going with the flow.

I am back in England again for a couple of weeks after about 4 months in Pereira, I intend to stay in Pereira till january 2008, unless my planned visits to other areas lead me there.
Just a comment on how business is done in Colombia after various attempts to purchase a car.On two occasions we agreed a price subject to a check by a interpendent company only for the compra/venta to sell them , so I decided to buy a new chevelet(SP) optra in verde obscuro. After 3 weeks I got a call to collect my new car which turned out to be grey ( turns out that the compra/venta has no imput on the building process despite all what I was promised), evidently the factory in Bogota only makes grey at the start of the month. Are all Colombianos out and out liars that say anything to keep you intrested or is it simply a part of the let it flow attitude to life here.
Great country, great people but struggling at times to blend into the ritmo of life here.

Welcome to Locombia, you just found out we (Colombians)are human beings prone to make mistakes. And as such we found alike behaviors in other countries.

But, I'm going to start making some assumptions here.... Which means I might actually end up making an ass out of myself ..........Thu 04 17, 2008 11:34 am

Ever try buying a used car in EEUU? or, even a new car, for that matter, sometimes may be worse. Maybe it's with more flare, but the 'Song & Dance' you got to get through to make major purchases in the USA - and then the broken promises, immediately following - ain't so different either, latinlife. So, I wouldn't be so hard on our Colombian friends.

and, thank you.

Cars Being English you should be quite familiar with long waits for new car deliveries. I personally have never experience something like it is in your country. Unfortunately for buyers new cars sales seem to be growing at a very fast pace: Jan-Feb 2007 was 42% better than same months last year (and last year was the best in history) and that leads to sales people fighting for slots in production line. No, cars are not produced by colors in each month, but some colors are more popular than others and if you let your sales person give you what they can get a hold of, then it is your problem if you decide to accept it or wait some more. They will try and tell you there is no option, that is a lie, there is an option but you might have to wait some more, but that in itself will create more pressure on them if they want to finally get your money.

Buen consejo Juanalejo! Buyer beware anywhere! If it wasnt the color I ordered I wouldnt accept it or pay for it. Pretty simple, really!
