Going to Manizales Columbia and I dont speak Spanish...Any advice..

I am traveling to Manizales Columbia for two weeks in the middle of October. Is there anything I should know about the county and the Manizales area. I dont speak any Spanish and I have never been to Columbia. Any advice would be helpful. Thank you...

Manizales So, why are you going to Manizales? any special person there for you?

Manizales is a small city or a big town... kind of cold and rainy. There are some interesting areas for you nearby, the Nevado del Ruiz national park, the coffee region, the coffee park and you can also visit Armenia and Pereira, two larger cities close by (less than an hour by car).

You don´t speak spanish? well, that´ll limit your visiting experience but you´ll manage to enjoy the visit, won´t you?

Manizales is not such a small city And FYI Armenia is actually a smaller city than Manizales. Pereira, is about the same size as Manizales. There is more industry in Pereira, but Manizales is more of a cultural hub, eventhough it has a bit less than half a million people it has 7 major universities. People from all over Colombia and neighboring countries like Venezuela go to study there. It isn't so rainy, and it is nowhere near as cold as Bogota, for instance today the temperature there is 87 degrees farenheit http://www.weatherreports.com/Colombia/Manizales

It is also home to one of the greatest festivals in Colombia "La feria de Manizales" which takes place in January.

Manizales is beautiful and coooool But Manizales is beautiful and cool, but I have to tell you, your not knowing Spanish is going to be a more than a minor impediment to having an enjoyable vacation, unless you are going to be with people who are fluent or at least competent in their Spanish.

I love the climate though. Because of it's high altitude, it is one of the few cities that is similar to that of Bogota's. Like Colombiabiche says, it well know for it's feria.

I love Manizales, it's people, the scenry. And I wish I was not in this F---in' office and I was there NOW !!

Have a great time !!
