Going to Colombia this weekend, looking for that special someone. Any tips were and how to find her? Agencies recommended?

I have heard so many good things about Colombian women that I just booked a ticket to Cali. I also plan to go to Caratagena. Are there any other places that you recommend. Any other places that you recommend me finding that special one... I have not communicated with any Colombian ladies prior to this so my questions is HOW and WHERE Are there some good marriage agencies that can set up some dates for me. I am 37 years old, outgoing, quite successful and with pretty good looks. (I have no problem meeting someone in the States but not interested any more. I appreciate any tips that could be helpful. Thank you.

mostly taken Well I posted 2 forums and did not explain my whole situation. I am going down to Colombia because of the people, the culture, the adventure, woman and some business. I would like to combine a vacation with some golf, scenery and to meet some women because I am single. I have met some Colombians in Florida and they seem very nice and I though I check out their culture as well. Why not.

I'm AGAINST agencies but... To each his own. RobertoNY, I've read some of your posts and some of your posts are on target but I think you can be kind of hard on some guys. I tend to agree with your general point regarding expecting to find an instant relationship with a girl overseas. However, it's not impossible to work out.

Floridian, I'm a total rookie on Colombia having only taken my first trip last month. I went for 10 days. I'm against using any type of agencies to meet girls. I tend to believe if you have any real shot at a relationship with a girl it has to be on your own. (i.e. you have to have some game and things that a normal girl would be interested in). Just walk around Chipichape mall and you can find tons of beautiful girls that are sweet and unjaded. Doing everyday things like going to the supermarket, walking around, going to the restaurants or bars. It's fairly easy to meet girls if you have conversational Spanish skills.

If you don't speak Spanish it's not worth trying to find a normal girl as "hola" and "como estas" gets old quick. I think you'll find the people of Cali to be very friendly and I think you'll come away from Cali with a good feeling.

The "nightlife" scene is quite alive in Cali as well as most other cities in South America of any size. There are easier cities if you are only going to 'score' with girls.

If you are looking for a serious relationship then I'd recommend trying to pick up a girl on your own. That way you won't have to wonder about the relationship as much as paying money to get set up with a girl. You claim to be 37, attractive, successful here in the USA. That's a good start. I'm several years younger than you but I too am quite successful and quite confident I can pick up just about any girl in the USA but just lost interest a while ago so I don't blame you.

If you don't already have Pimsleur Spanish I'd recommend you start it. To answer your question there are a ton of websites out there. Try http://www.caligringo.com for a start. Go to one of the links and it will list a ton of sites.

Good luck.

Castellano Well, it doesn't matter whether you know the language or not since you're flying down there this weekend, however, I think you SHOULD know some Spanish if going to Colombia, get the pimsleur 6 CD & go hardcore into it, you might be fine with just that. Take your cat also & tell us how good is Cali & Cartagena. Have fun !!!!!!!

Yes, saint, I'm hard on some people... because so many of these posts don't make sense. Think about it, this guy's just going to get on a plane to Cali and all he wants to know is where he can meet some nice women. Get serious.
Then he writes a follow-up post to say he actually wants to know about Colombian culture also... Well, if you believe that I have a bridge in Brooklyn that I'd like to sell you.
I just call 'em like I see 'em. No sugar coating here because they don't deserve it.

My Dear Latin Paisano... Roberto, to each his own. There's no denying it there's something about certain women. Colombian Women, etc. Period. Everyone has an opinion & yours is quite welcome here ;)
Whether for culture or the girls, at least there's some kind of influx in tourism which helps Colombia over all. You got to see the positivity in all this. Someone is willing to go down there, considering how "dangerous, unsafe" it can be (anywhere really), and spend some money. Hey, you're very welcome here in AnySouthAmericanTown, Dude, come back again by all means, just be safe & look out after yourself at all times!
Think. If you know how to do it; You're married & have a mistress. You're spreading the goods almost evenly between two women & their loved ones, etc. You're the spreading goods (materially, emotionally, etcetera) synergistically in a way. Morally, wrong, yes it might just be, but there's not buts really...

Too many of you people just don't read the original posts and come up with reasoning that's totally incomprehensible. I always read "there's something about a Colombian woman..."
Well, perhaps, but most of these guys have had no experience with one. Additionally, if they are acquainted with one here in the states, I can tell you that those are mostly Americanized. The others that come over will be in time also.
So, what exactly was your point again?

I like your enthusiasm but I think that Robertny is upset because you are going there with no actual direction, seemingly no knowledge of the country and lack the ability to speak spanish.

Colombia isnt a country where the beautiful women are falling out of trees. Most of the ones you would WANT to meet wont even talk to you without proper introductions or without some friend in common.

I met my fiance via MATCH.COM INTERNATIONAL but as a friend. we kept writing each other for a couple months and she was telling me all about the country, the tourist sites and things that I might enjoy. When I did finally come the first time, I had her and her family there and they recieved me warmly ( as a friend ) and I was free to explore the country with her as my guide.

It really did help that my background is latino and I do speak spanish. I wonder how relationships with colombianas work when language and culture clash.

If you can't communicate, the only thing you will be doing is waving cash around and attracting the wrong kind of people. I would suggest you wait, practice spanish, send out a few emails, read up on Colombia and go there to meet friends and party. Yes, there are some women that are happy to have an american friend and you will invariably meet their friends once you get there.

if you are still going this weekend be a good visitor, ok! HAVE FUN

If someone has three weeks to visit Colombia, what towns/cities are a must to visit, & for long should a visitor spend at each city?
Cartagena seems to be the one that might required the most time to fully explore it. Cali might be another one. Barranquilla doesn't seem like there's much to see (besides partying) & not sure about Medellin. If you provide info about Pereira, that'll be great as well.

There are beautiful women all over the streets of NYC. NYC has one of the most diverse populations of women in the world. That's because they're from all over the world. You wouldn't know that because you rarely leave your couch.
However, the women in NYC weren't even part of the dialogue of this post until you berated them hereon. I won't waste more of my time responding to your childish posts. You're obviously looking to have a grade school type of debate. You won't find one here.

Also - Go to The nice Bars like (La casa de la Cerveza make friends ans then shoot!) ---- If you are in Cartagena my advise to you is, wait till Septempber when they have the Colombian Beauty Pageants.. Im not implying that you are getting a model Im just saying that there are more chances of getting to know more women because of the season...If you can't wait till sept., go to Cafe del Mar, La Candela or for a different style of place go to La Dolce Vita!...
Cheers,

P.S. My best advise is to socialize with the locals and work from there...

Successful?????? So the man is quite successful. Here we have the question of how do you measure success? I just came back from vacation where I spent my time at the beachhouse of a mutual friend. The man who owned the house is from Toronto and like the 55 million other Candaians he decided to move to Mexico and sell timeshare.

I have never met such a pompus ass. He and his little friends just sat around telling me how much money they make. I quote....

Asshole: "How much money do you make teaching English?"

Shaner : "About $7.00 US an hour." "I like teaching English."

Asshole number 2 : "Yeah, I guess we make $300 USD an hour."

These guys live in a huge house, don't speak Spanish and make no attempt to know the culture etc. All his friends are Canadian or American. I went back home early because I cannot stand that how much do you make poo poo.

So, success. My mom used to say, it is not how you die. It is how you live that's important.

I hope this guy doesn't sit there in Colombia and brag about his money because Colombians don't need that crap. Colombians deserve respect. They live in a tough neighborhood and they still are the friendliest people in the world.

Thanks.

Thinking I have been thinking of writing a book for sometime. I wanted to write one while I was in Brazil about the differnce between the rich and poor featuring black and white photos representing the different classes. I was so inspired by the people of Brazil. I had both rich and poor friends.

My friends who were poor lived in these little favelas. They had nothing but a dirt floor, table and bed. They were the happiest people I had ever met. They made me dinner and were always ready to Samba. It really changed me. Here I am whining because I don't have a sweet and low for my coffee and these wonderful, beautiful people have only some rice and balck coffee to drink.

Hunt for Colombian wives I know there are a lot of men who are married to Colombian women using this website, many of whom have met them through agencies or went to Colombia on purpose to meet a wife, and I always laugh at the comments of how sick they are of women in the US. How can you be sick of MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of women???!!! I think you all must have been deeply hurt by a women in your country, and have therefore given up on them all. Seriously though, as a European woman I am intersted to know, what is so bad about women in the US? I know that many of you have found happiness with Colombian wives and that's great, but there is a HUGE risk of meeting a woman who just wants you for your money and youir ability to whisk her off to the US, and there are many women who will devote themselves to you for years just for that reason, not because they really love you. Your never mention that in your comments to men looking for Colombian women. Is it not something that worries you?

saint says on Apr 10, 2004, 10:44:

I've always said US women get a bad reputation. The simple fact of the matter is that most guys going to Colombia are going because they are going there to find a beautiful girl that they probably couldn't get otherwise in the USA. The reason why many men criticize US women is because they can't get them. I'm not saying this in every case but in most instances a really beautiful American girl doesn't want to spend her best years with a balding, middle age or older guy that let himself go a long time ago.

I've said it over and over that the US women boxed themselves into a corner always asking what guys can bring to the table. Guys do the same thing now. I don't have a problem with guys marrying girls from other countries. My biggest argument against it is it seems like guys are taking the basic principles of getting to know someone, learning about them, meeting their family, spending time with them and throwing it out the window just because a girl is from another country.

Would you marry a girl from the USA that you've been emailing and talking on the phone with for months without meeting her first? Would you take a ring to her? I'd think not. Why guys do this with girls they've never met or only met once kind of boggles my mind. I'm not judging anyone though. I've dated plenty of girls from other countries but there is no way I'd get married without spending considerable time with them, knowing their downsides, knowing what annoys me about her and vice versa, getting to meet her family and friends, etc.

I've also said it before that going to a place like Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Cuba, etc. for some guys is like going to an adult Disneyworld. Things happen to them that have never happened in everyday life and they really like it. The only problem is you can't LIVE in "Disney world" for good. Relationships are possible but always follow the same basic principles of any relationship. Good luck.

Seems That We Are In A Similar Boat. PLEASE HELP Merry Meet, all:

It seems that I am in a similar boat as our original poster here, only I am going to Bogota, and have already "met" (electronically) the woman that I am hoping to be with.

The problem is that I know almost nothing about the mindset of Colombian women (except for what I have heard and seen from a bus window going from Santiago de Cali to Bogata once a few Months ago) and I am notoriously bad at relationships anyway. I mean, like SUPER LOOSER OF THE SUPER LOOSERS bad. I mean like The Guy Who Was Rejected By "Last Chance Dating Service" Bad. Like writing to "Jail Babes" (from newspaper advertisements) Bad -- and still getting rejected BIG TIME.

So here I have found "My" Colombian "Princess" (well, hopefully, but likely?), and have spent almost all of My Money for a ticket to Good Old Cocaine Country's Beautiful Capital City (forgive Me if I have offended anyone, PLEASE. NOT My Intention) of Santa Fe de Bogota, and will be stuck there for a whole Month (unless sooner deported by the D.A.S.) with a woman whom I have only exchanged two E-Letters and two telephone calls with (at $10.00USD a Minute!).

Now, Good People of the World, I am hoping that someone somewhere can give Me some kind of a guide post as to what to expect from your "typical" Colombian woman and how to properly court her -- without getting rejected, hurt, arrested, kidnapped, and/or deported. I am asking this because the last time I was rejected by a woman (in Uruguay), I tried to kill Myself like six times in one Week, and it was everything that the Uruguayan Police and U.S. Embassy could do to prevent Me from succeeding, and I do not think that the Colombian Police will be so willing or interested in to keeping a depressed SuperLooser alive. I REALLY DO NOT WANT TO &%# at UP AGAIN!

So, if you could please give Me some information, please PLEASE do.

Blessed Be.

Lestat.

I have been using Tel3 for about 6 months now. I have experienced problems with all different kinds of LD int'l services, and I really like the service Tel3 has --

1. You can set up speed dial numbers. After dialing the 800 number, just hit the speed dial for your destination call and there is no need to punch in the rest.

2. Internet management tools. Your CC is billed automatically when you run out of minutes (even during a call!), which is great because you don't need to continually buy cards at some store.

3. If you get disconnected or cannot connect, just hit ## and a new connection is automatically established. no need to re-dial anything.

Hope this helps
