Thanks to all of you regular visitors, I am a frequent reader , but I seldom post. However, I find the advice, tips, information and discussions to be wonderful!
And hope in the future I, too, can be of help.
Until then, my situation is this:
I met a colombian guy last year, we dated for 3 months, I broke up with him, (he had some issues, ex:he was studying to be a priest).
Now, he is free, he has made up his mind, and I have too. We want to see eachother. So, I will be going to Colombia in 10 days --- for 5 weeks. During that time, we will stay 4 days in Bogota at the Seminary (where he lives right now). Then, we will tour Colombia together, visiting his family and friends.
As it's been 7 months since we've seen eachother, (and he was studying to be a priest) there's a lot of anticipation...
1.) I want to look hot when I step off the plane, So my question is :what is appropriate hotness to wear if I am arriving in Bogota??
2.) We will be staying with his relatives and the priests, So, any tips on appropriate gifts would be very helpful...
I want to make him happy, what is something nice and romantic I can do for him??
Any suggestions are welcome and I thank you all for your participation in this wonderful poor but happy forum..
Special Thanks to Peter too,
Musica

CLALORENA says on Mar 11, 2005, 03:33: making your man happy I suggest you can wear something nice and a little bit elegant, make up will be good, if you are taking gift to his family I think they will apreciate if you take some sourvenior from London, sweets and Perfumes. To make your man happy treat him really well like you would like to be treated, call him not by his name, you can say CARINO, MI AMOR, or CORAZON.Always smile and be polite. Try to be easy going and get on well with the family, sometimes it's dificult because you dont know what to expect from them, partners parents in Colombia sometimes show you two faces, I hope they dont. Good Luck and Enjoy the beauty of Colombia. Lorenita 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

babygirl says on Mar 11, 2005, 07:32: Here's a crazy question for any women. How do you guys keep your hair looking so awesome even in the humidity and heat, eg: Caribbean climates like Cartagena? It's so irritating and embarrassing having finished a perfect blow dry, you want to look amazing, make-up's done, great outfit, perfume and then you step outside and within 10 minutes look like a freak with crazy hair!!! Any suggestions other than shaving my head? cheers 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Neonovo says on Mar 11, 2005, 07:46: Give the priests a movie or a book... Something somewhat subversive, like "Amadeus", to stir their patriarchal mind-set. Or donate a book the the seminary's library, one that questions and illustrates the inherent contradictions ruling the mummified cahtolic dogma, and shines an obscure light on the ashes of the colombian psyche, like "El Nadaismo Colombiano, O, La Busqueda De Una Vanguardia Perdida", by Armando Romero ISBN: 958-601-176-3 / 9586011763

adrimm says on Mar 11, 2005, 22:52: Seminary & Weather in Bog Good point about the seminary... but don't some Catholic religious orders maintain bare-bones accomodations for travellers ( thought I heard of this in Europe)? I understood that women could not enter the seminary to study, not that they weren't allowed in the doors of the grounds period. What about the nuns accomodations? Adjacent building maybe?
