Going to Cartagena in the next 2 weeks

I'm going to Cartegena (from Panama)for my first time. I've been to Medellin and I'm very much looking forward to seeing Cartegena. I speak passable Spanish (woking on it) and I'd like to know if anyone will be around in the next few weeks? Maybe get together for some beers or whatever. I'm pretty much open to do anything.........

My only concern was the humidity, because I hear that it's very uncomfortable; I usually don't like it too hot. I want to stay in the nicest hotel or apartment available. Any suggestions.........

Make sure you get an apartment with A/C in the main rooms then. Some apartments for rent only have A/C in the bedrooms. Juan Ventura has the best apartments. His web page is http://www.cartagenadeindias.com

The nicest place he has available is http://www.cartagenapenthouse.com

I'm going also.... Andy... My Novia lives in Barranquilla and I am heading down there the 27th of January and will be there until the 7th of February. During this time we will be going to Cartagena for 6 days for some fun - sun, sand, nightclubs and to tour the beautiful city! Although I cant say I will be interested in hanging out with anyone but her, I can tell you more about what you asked. As far as humidity, you are going at a good time of the year. The days are still hot but the evenings are much cooler this time of year. No matter when you are there you are going to face humidity though. But now is the time to be there if it really bothers you. And yes, Sinbad is correct, absolutely make sure you have AC in your apartment or hotel. I will be staying in one of Juan Ventura's places during our visit and although I can not give you are review of the quality of the place, I can tell you he has been very reliable and professional in communication. If it follows through well, we will rent his places often in the future!

Apts Juan rents good to very good quality apts, link below:

http://www.zepelion.com/apartamentos/index.htm

The other main renter is Mery Salence, she has apts of quality to Juans, but no real website yet, although one of her clients is designing a website for her at the moment, below is a page to a couple of her apts:

http://www.travelnet.cx/cartagena/

They charge similiar prices, depending on the apt, they have about 25 apts between them and both are honest people, which is quite inportant in Ctg

CrazyGirl, Tomorrow I'll probably book in one of the nicer apartments, maybe Juan Venturas. I'm only going to be there for about 4 days, but we can meet up for some drinks. You can invite your husband too otherwise he might get mad at me.

I'm probably only staying for about 4 days. It's enough time for me to have fun. If I'm there before you then I'll definitely keep you posted.
